Abraham's Custom Tailoring

Customer brought in an old, heavily soiled fur-trimmed coat to be cleaned. After picking it up, she complained that the width of one sleeve shrunk, so we offered to expand it.
 
Customer brought in a complaint letter when she returned to pick up her coat and demanded that we sign it even...

though she agreed that the coat fit after trying it on. Also, this time, she accused us of damaging the fur trim around one of the sleeves. We offered to repair the trim, but Customer insisted on taking the coat and bringing it back on a later date. Customer has yet to return.
 
We are still willing to make the repairs to the coat that she requests.
 
We have been in the custom tailoring and dry cleaning business for over 30 years and are well-informed about fashion trends and designs and methods for processing clothing.
 
From the design of the coat, we estimate that Customer’s coat was over 50 years old, so we took additional precaution in processing it.
 
Animal hide and fur becomes fragile over time, so the consumer should use and handle with care. The consumer maintains responsibility for inherent defects that occur during use and homecare. Because the coat was heavily soiled and had permanently settled stains in the lining, we believe that Customer neglected to do so, contributing to its inherent weakness.
 
We have a disclaimer posted in our shop and printed on the back of all receipts stating that we exercise the utmost care in processing each article of clothing. We do not assume responsibility for preexisting inherent weaknesses or defects in materials caused by the consumer’s neglect to care for their clothing.
