I contacted Absolute Technology Law Group to ask about patents. The female lawyer that answered the phone wouldn't provide any information until I shared my idea with her. I was reluctant because I do not understand the process and really just wanted to know how things work. Instead of providing me information on the process, the woman proceeded to tell me all the reasons why my idea would not make money. I made the mistake of interrupting her to tell her I was just calling about the process and she became angry, told me I was rude, told me she would never take me as a client, never to call again and hung up on me. When I called back to figure out what was going on, she hung up on me again. I then proceeded to send an email to the company to share my frustration. The same lawyer responded with an attack on my character, calling me narcissistic among other things and told me she would get a restraining order against me. What kind of business or individual does that? This firm is not professional in their approach and I would not recommend them to anyone!

+1

We often do not accept clients that do not have patentable subject matter.

When a prospective client calls us, we need to know the field of endeavor to avoid conflicts of interest, as well as other facts to determine if a patent will benefit them or just deplete their hard earned savings.

We referred Cheryl to the public library to "just learn how things work" and some USPTO web information to be more prepared and successful.

Repeated calls to any office

Excellent technical and legal knowledge.
Worked efficiently, resulting in a much lower fee than prior firms with whom we have worked.

Review: I was charged $750 to revise my existing patent then there was an attempt to bill me another $750 for the remainder without telling me by using the same card info I'd initially given her, this was before giving me ANY proof that work was even being done! After I told her she did not have permission to charge my card until I had a draft, she did it anyway taking everything that was left in my account ($200). She gave me the run around for a month just to tell me she didn't want to complete the work after having charged me for a finished patent application.Desired Settlement: I would like all money returned to me since I never received any product and will have to pay someone else to do the work that she never did.

Response:

The client has fabricated the facts. She received a draft set of claims and has received a final draft. She was quoted a flat fee which she honored despite 42 emails She received all work on schedule Tje client unreasonably sent excessive emails and demanded same day responses The client has been refunded the $200 charge approved . This was immediately done. We cannot file her application without the filing fees and drawing fees. The client has received approximately $5,600 of billable work, and should provide you with our documented work. We cannot do so due to client confidentiality. There is a balance of $850 plus filing and drawing fees due.We cannot provide you with copies of our work without her consent, but she has not been forthright.

Regards,

This individual that did not sign her name, and appears to be the author of the first review.

A good attorney is NOT afraid to say "no" to a client with a bad idea to protect the client from costly mistakes.;

Our billing rate is $285 and hour and we quote a "not to exceed amount in advance." We complete all work on application at our expense if it exceeds the time estimate

The fact that we sent a draft application means we had to spend at least 20 hours searching and writing 20 pages and 20 claims.

This young woman did not commercialize her product, and apparently visited attorneys trying to get each to complete documents, without payment, and made excessive and demanding calls for services that were not germane to her objectives..

Ultimately, she did not have any commercial success, and was angry she could not obtain a patent on an ipad application in her field without hard work and the market and desig research that results in real solutions and patentable novelty.
