[redacted] , We are sorry to hear that your experience with Palmetto School has been less than perfectWe pride ourselves on giving our students the absolute best chances at success as possible and to know that you had problems with our program is something we don’t take lightlyI’ve reached out to the Career Advisors in our Columbia campus to see if they could help give us a better understanding of the situationYou mentioned that you weren’t able to work on the computers to receive online hands on training with medical software, however the students of that class did have access to MedisoftIt was downloaded on each of the computers in the classroom and could have been downloaded at home on a personal computer as well for further practiceOur career advisor offered to allow you to take one of the school’s laptops home, equipped with Medisoft, to allow you the chance to review it in more detail and you declined that offerOn many occasions, the Career Advisors and the Instructor offered to come in before class and stay after class to help those students that felt that they needed the extra helpYou stated you were unable to attend those study sessionsDuring the class, you requested copies of sample forms that you pointed out in the workbook so our Career Advisor printed them out and passed them out to the entire classThe Career Advisor also used the online resources available and printed out documentation allowing each student to create a sample patient chartDuring the course, the Career Advisor brought in an employee from [redacted] Medical Center PRN that spoke with the class and told you all that you would all be excellent candidates to work for their companyThe employee also stated that because each medical office is different and uses their own computer software, no matter what computer software you were trained on, if you were hired in a doctor’s office, you would spend at least another weeks learning the computer software that they used in their officeThroughout the course, you received extensive help with writing and perfecting your resumeThe Career Advisor and Instructor would use the classes Facebook Group Page to post job openings in different medical fields throughout the areaSince graduating, you have gotten several interviews at medical officesAfter voicing your concerns to the Career Advisor, we offered to allow you to come back and retake the class, free of charge, which you declinedWe tried to set you up again with an internship and received conformation on January 25, that you would not be taking the internship because you were attending another schoolAt this time, we feel that we have done everything we can to try and correct this situation and do not feel a refund is necessaryWe are now offering a new computer software program, Simchart that we would be willing to send to you free of chargeWe would offer to set up another internship for you but you just declined the one that we set up so don’t feel offering another one would be productiveAgain, we apologize that you’ve had this experience with our school and have tried our best to make it right but our attempts thus far have failedIf there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know [redacted] Business Administration Manager Palmetto School of Career Development

Students have been informed that they are able to take the PTCB Exam (the PTCE) or the ExCPT exam given through the ***Either test is covered by the exam fee, which has also been communicated to the studentsThe PTCE exam is only not recognized in some hospital settingsAs was explained to the students in a special session to clarify these matters, students can take the ExCPT and still obtain employment in numerous other pharmacy settings (retail, long-term care, etc.) and some hospital settings, depending on that particular hospitals rules and tier systemStudents can also take the PTCE examStudents have taken the PTCE in the past and passed after attending our courses, so the statement that students will definitely not pass is incorrectThat exam is admittedly more difficult and perhaps there was a miscommunication when relaying that factThis student has received exam registration instructions from Cassi C***, the local Career Advisor, on multiple occasions, including as recently as Tuesday the 29thShe has spoken to several peopleThere is some action required on the part of the student before this exam can be scheduled

I reject the response bc *** was the regional manager and I called her several times for her helpI said before that they said in class my résumé was good but then *** said it was bad so I went over to get help with the résumé*** even started a employment agency to assist in finding dental job but was quit due to the owners telling her she could not be apart of the agency even though a employee in another on of the schools location still worked for the businessThe fact the *** took a job from a oral surgeon without giving it to a student is not business likeThat dentist had several internships through the school is why he called for a job opening! *** took advantage of this! Now that doctor will not even accept interns or hire anyone from Palmetto bc the way *** left after signing a year work agreement! The school talks about the instructor are qualified, they showed up late and they lie about *** being a *** *** gradThey need to get it right! Also it was in their policy that a student must graduate after completing hrs in a dentist office that was their job to schedule not mine, I did days as well as my classmatesDon't try to throw this off on me, I was the student! I can show you all my emails I sent out to get a jobI have drove everywhere! The school on defends it self as striving to be the best well you are far from it! I have all the sent emails to *** and *** and I will be happy to get the phone recordsThe school trusted *** to be regional manager she should be able to have helped me! I will not be satisfied till I get a full refund.

These statements are completely falseThe school did download the programs onto their computers for us to use, yes, but they downloaded them weeks before graduationThey were supposed to be available for student access from the start of class.
Yes, they did offer for me to take the class a second time free of charge, but that was a coward response from the school when I stated that I was angry about the class not being adequately prepared by the school, not us students As for the school offering to let me take a laptop home from the school, that location didn't even have laptops
They had all desk topsHow would they let me borrow something they didn't have?
Yes, I took a flash drive to the school that they offered to pit the programs on for my personal use
When I opened the contents of the flash drive it was all programmer lingoNo actual usable program

Yes, I did have to decline the internship that they offered me on January 25, I graduated at the end of October, The internship should have been offered and set up immediately following graduation

I had to perdue other avenues in order to become qualified for employment within the medical field.
The school employee that responded is being completely untruthful because that location does not want to admit that they were inadequately prepared to offer that classThey needed to get everything including an adequate instructor in place, an instructor that didnt give you the answers to the tests before she administered the test, all necessary programs on computers, and all internships ready to accept students before any class began

From start to finish I had an amazing experience while enrolled as a student with the dental assisting program! *** *** was my first point of contact in which she outlined everything from the flow of the program down to the payment optionsShe was professional, personable, and informative During the week program we had both classroom and clinical experience*** *** was our instructor and showed genuine interest in me and each student in our classShe worked very hard and diligently along with the other clinical instructors to teach us exactly what we needed to know upon entering the dental field The sincerity in which she teaches displayed nothing less than a passionate and well educated love for both dental assisting and teaching I would recommend this or any of the programs that Palmeadow school of career development have to offer!

There was never any further assistance offered, just discouragement from taking the PTCBThe word discouraged literally was usedI even verbally communicated I wouldn't feel confident taking the PTCB because one the teacher said we wasn't taught to its standards, two, the woman that came with Daniel, were saying you can't pass itFirst its we can't take the PTCB, then its, we can take it, but its discouragedAgain written in the agreement " students are encouraged take the PTCB in south carolina

I noticed the courses you took were almost two years agoWe were unaware you were still struggling to find employmentWe value feedback, good or bad, from our students both current and former because it’s a way for our school to grow into an even better oneThat being said, it’s hard for us to help if we are unaware of the situationIn the student handbook given at orientation, it tells you the steps each student can take if they are unhappy with the way something in the program is goingIf an area manager did not respond to your concerns, the next step would have been to reach out directly to the DirectorWe would have been more than happy to resolve the issue the best we could but we aren’t showing a record that you ever reached out to anyone else
Regarding the internship program, it is designed to allow you the opportunity to intern at a practice to get more hands on experience with day to day procedures in the dental officeIt is based on each student’s availabilityIf a student is unable to be placed in a facility because of their availability it may become difficult to find a dentist that is available during that timeWe do our best locating doctors and placing students accordingly but there are times when dental offices are just not looking to have interns during the same time the student is availableThis is not a common occurrence and if/when it happens we make sure we are communicating with the student to come up with an acceptable solution
As far as our instructors go, I can assure you that each and every one of our instructors is qualified to teach our coursesThe instructor requirements we use when hiring instructors was submitted and approved by the South Carolina Department of Higher EducationOur instructors go through a screening process, a face to face interview, a working interview, and must take and pass the final exam with a before we offer them a position to teach our students
