Blue Apron's product is fine. Overpriced, but perhaps a decent option for people without much time to shop.

Unfortunately they don't offer gluten free options and I decided to cancel after my free trial. At this point Blue Apron quite deliberately and overtly forces the customer to pay for an additional week, despite claims during the free trial that you will be allowed to cancel.

Here's how they prevent you from cancelling: First - there is no cancellation option on your account online. Instead you have to search for an email address and send a cancellation request to the company. Second - using the email address given on the website generates an auto response email telling you to use a different email address! The entire email is deliberately confusing. Third - after sending the cancellation request a second time, to their second email address, within their deliberately tight window for cancellation, I thought I was done with them. However they instead wait to reply to my email until the next day at 12:13pm - approximately 13 minutes after the deadline to cancel, and tell me that I have one more meal coming.

Now, clearly the company received my email the night before and had all morning to process the cancellation. They quite clearly chose to wait until after their own deadline to process a manual request (when they surely could have done this instantly online instead), and then act as though I somehow did not cancel within their window.

This strikes me as a blatant scam and an illegal breach of their own commitment to a risk free cancellation trial, as is promised on sign up.

which I attached a screen shot. While this does not make up for charging me for the deliveries I expressly asked them not to deliver, I am satisfied with knowing I will no longer be charged for food I do not want. I do not wish to pursue any further action on my account, however, I believe their business is designed to rope people into their subscription forever until someone goes to these lengths to cut ties with the company.  I can attest to the fact that their multi-step process to cancel the subscription that ultimately ends in following a link to cancel, did no such thing. It wasn't until I contacted you, sent increasingly hateful emails, and canceled the credit card I used to open the account that I actually received confirmation from the company that my subscription was canceled. I am sure it is technically legal, but it is wildly unethical.
Sincerely,

I have been subscribing to Blue Apron for almost a year now. My fiancé and I have loved the recipes and also have learned so much about cooking.
I am writing this review because I got curious and tried a competitor brand and it was terrible. I figured I'd give Blue Apron the praise it deserves. Here is why it's better:
1) the ingredients are carefully sourced. I have learned about unique, small food brands. I've gotten to try incredibly fresh food and nothing that comes in my Blue Apron kit is something I could find at any old grocery store. It feels way more exclusive.
2) the customer service team is awesome. There have been a couple instances where things have been left out of our box or something had been damaged/molded during the shipping process, but customer service has always made it right.
3) the recipes are amazing. I think maybe in the past 11 months, there have been 2 recipes I didn't love. In general, they have expanded my palate and love of new foods.
4) this kind of goes along with the ingredients sourcing, but all recipes are appropriate for the season. They really celebrate seasonal produce. The summer recipes also seem more skillet-based, which is great because you don't have to heat your whole kitchen.
5) their presentation and customer experience seems to always be improving. I am a UX designer so I'm overly sensitive to these things. For example, their packaging has improved even just over the course of a year. They have found more efficient ways to ship delicate foods like mushrooms so they don't get damaged. There are lots of little details like that, and it makes a big difference!!

Hello, [redacted] reached out to Blue Apron via email on February *, 2016 to cancel her account. We replied to her email with instructions on how to cancel, but the account was not cancelled. [redacted] was charged for a delivery that arrived on March *, 2016. When she called to let us...

know that she did not want this order and would rather her account be cancelled, we refunded her in full for the charge she incurred and also cancelled her account as requested. Please let me know if I can assist further,

The recipes and quality of the food are excellent. However, their customer service policies are horrible. After we decided to cancel, there was a message on the screen that said that if we didn't cancel, they would give us the promotional price for a second week. We were charged the full amount, and when I told customer service, they said they don't give partial refunds. They added it to the next week, which meant we had to resign up again for a third week, after paying in full for the second week, even though we never had agreed to that previously. Then in the third week they forgot two ingredients. We had already cancelled future orders for the time being, and when I told customer service they told me they would credit us $9.99 back. The whole point of Blue Apron is to be able to cook these ingredients delivered to your house - when you're busy with work and kids you don't want to go out and get the missing ingredients. There was no offer to ship them out, just a credit for a closed account.

[redacted] started a free trial with Blue Apron on 6/*, her first delivery with us was 6/**. In signing up all members must accept our terms of service, which includes a cancellation policy...

outlining that cancellations need to be made 5-7 days prior to next order. [redacted] emailed us twice on 6/** and was provided instructions on how to cancel her account twice (both on 6/** to a spouse who emailed, and on 6/** to her directly) [redacted] cancelled her account on 6/**. Unfortunately that was past the deadline to cancel the next week's order. We have, however, reached out to [redacted] in apology and offered to refund the second charge. [redacted] has disputed the charge on her account, and we let the dispute go through. Effective the bank will refund the funds to her account. Her account has been cancelled, there will be no more charges and no more deliveries sent.

I have been using blue apron for quite a while now and enjoy it. The food is fresh and the recipes are interesting. They provide free meals that I can send to friends and family - which I have done and several have also signed up. I have had very few issues - maybe a missing ingredient and they have responded quickly. Most of the complaints seem to be from people who are not familiar with subscription services. My only issue with blue apron is the recipes always take me much longer to make then their time estimates - I may not be a proficient chef but I'm no novice either! I like to say 'i may not always use 17 bowls and take 2 hours to make dinner but when I do it's always blue apron!' LOL. Overall I am very happy with the service and especially appreciate that I am trying new ingredients easily! Dinner is more interesting with blue apron! I recommend them highly!!

I signed up for a promotional deal on Blue Apron, and now it is impossible to cancel the service. I keep getting charged $60. The only way to cancel a delivery is to skip the deliveries up to 6 weeks in advance, then it automatically schedules deliveries after 6 weeks and charges you again. No business should be able to advertise a promotional deal, automatically enroll you in the service, and then make you continuously cancel the service every 6 weeks.

I can not locate the previous I sent in regards to canceling the Blue Apron deliveries. Nevertheless, the e-mail I sent was answered by a long process of how to cancel the deliveries. Therefore, I remembered sending an e-mail telling them to cancel the deliveries and that I was not going to figure it out the long process. I want the response to be known that the company don't make it simple to cancel the deliveries permanently. You have to log on each week to cancel the delivery.

blue apron is shady as hell. they make it difficult to cancel and they still send you their crap. if you do somehow manage to cancel then all it takes is logging back into their site to get back on their list of people to send boxes of overpriced food to.
blue apron is a horrible company and a scam, don't do business with them.

With the free trial invitation, the cost of the entire first delivery is free. Following that first delivery, all accounts are enrolled into a weekly subscription to receive fresh ingredients and delicious recipes. At sign up above where...

Tim put in the credit card it clearly states, "Enter your billing information. Your first order will be free of charge. You will receive future deliveries at $59.94 per week. You can skip a week or cancel your account at any time with 6 days notice.” Tim’s first delivery which arrived on 8/* was free, and the charge he saw was for the second delivery, which arrived on 8/**. He wrote into our customer support, and we issued a refund on 8/**. He still was sent the box of food and hopefully enjoyed it.

I saw and add and decided to try the service, seems like a good idea. I had my subscription for a month but was not happy with the product at all and wanted to cancel. You can't cancel your subscription. The option is not available on their site, if you send them an email according to the cancellation instructions it just gets ignored, if you try to call during their posted business hours you just get voice mail that is never returned.

I received an offer for a free week of BlueApron, in order to redeem it, I was forced to create an account. However, once an account was made, I was autocharged $60 for meals in the future, and found that there was no easy cancellation.
The ability to cancel the service is made needlessly difficult and the link to do so is hidden on their site. For this reason, even though I somewhat enjoyed the service, I felt compelled to unsubscribe and report to the Revdex.com.
