I am rejecting this response because: I ACCEPT HIS OFFER TO COME BACK AND ADD THE SHIMS AND POLISH THE STONE BUTI will not accept it unless he also does the following as I previously requested:make sure the crack is sealed appropriately (it has rough edges so I want to know that it is in fact sealed and filled in enough)refund some of my money for accepting a cracked counter I paid $for the piece of granite and $for trip delivery and installation which is $of the $total I paidI would like 1/of the $back which would total $I feel that is more than reasonable on my part considering I will still have a cracked stone (and worry that it will get worse over time) Regards, [redacted] [redacted]

I compromised, and am no longer asking for a brand new counter (like I paid for) and feel that 50% of the cost of the counter and install fee, in addition to the repairs, is resonableRegards, [redacted] [redacted]

This lady is lyingThe cabinets are extremely out of level resulting in the breakThe contractor was notified about the crack and said,he hoped she didn't noticeHe was standing directly beside me when I asked him who leveled the cabinets and saw the crackWe never pick up a stove by the handle
or slide it across a floor, however we did pick up by the handle to fit the stove through a small doorwayAlso I have the conversation with the contractor via text and never once did we ask him to help install the granite, the young man who was at the install with me works everyday and has been installing with us for over a yearThis customer has made bold and untrue statements regarding this entire situation

We can come back and polish the stone and add shims.

I am rejecting this response because:  I ACCEPT HIS OFFER TO COME BACK AND ADD THE SHIMS AND POLISH THE STONE BUT... I will not accept it unless he also does the following as I previously requested:1. make sure the crack is sealed appropriately (it has rough edges so I want to know that it is in fact sealed and filled in enough)2. refund some of my money for accepting a cracked counter.  I paid $944.69 for the piece of granite and $300 for trip delivery and installation which is $1244.69 of the $1834.69 total I paid. I would like 1/2 of the $1244.69 back which would total $622.34. I feel that is more than reasonable on my part considering I will still have a cracked stone (and worry that it will get worse over time).

We are willing to refund 20% of the cost of the granite ad well as repair the crack and place shims as needed

I do not accept his response. other companies I contacted after this stated to me they'd never leave a site with a broken counter and one specifically stated that if the counter is not level they simply add shims underneath to level it (which there are no shims under my side of the counter that has the crack). He told me that "we are not liable for any damages incurred while removing or installing countertops". I NEVER RECEIVED A CONTRACT FROM HIM and can tell you'd I'd be hesitant to hire someone that puts that in their contract. at this point i'm terrified to have him come into my home and replace it and cause damage to my custom cabinets and/or backsplash. for that reason, instead of replacement I would rather him do the following:1. add the required shims to that side of the counter2. ensure the crack is sealed appropriately3. buff/seal the top of the counter where the crack is so that it is less noticeable (which he said he'd do when he returned from Acapulco but never did)4. refund some of my money for accepting a broken counter.
