C & C Plumbing

Review: On 2/18/15 C&C Plumbing did a job which lasted about 2 hrs including assessment, but the bill we received was ridiculously high, $1000. Job had very small parts cost, 20ft of PEX pipe (100ft of PEX pipe goes for about $30). Seeing we got ripped off, I called other reputable plumbers and received quotes for the same job at around $275-$375. We contacted [redacted] (owner) and he sent the below text on 2/18. "I'll call u about pricing. [redacted] did not know about me giving a better price since we did it faster than expected. Give me afew mon and I will call you."On Monday he sent a text with the price of $750. We still thought that was high and [redacted] sent the below text. "Parts, labor, leak detection, workers comp, liability Insurence, bond, plumbing license , etc. ads up fast. And yes, I have overhead. I work off 20-25% margins after parts ( not much)I'm not out to gouge anyone. If I was a one man show with no overhead or Insurence , workers comp etc, I would totally do it for $500. However, if that's the price you think is fair, than I will just except it .I don't want any problems, I would rather do a job for free than to have someone feel upset about a price. Just next time it happens you can call any other plumbing company that is actually legit and not a one man show or handyman and you will realize how fairly priced I am. Customer service is all that matters to me. Let me know what you would like me to do and what you think is fair. Thx." We said $500 it is. On 2/25 without any further communication full $1000 was charged on our CC. On 3/12 my wife involved our CC company in the process and [redacted] agreed to reduce the amount to $375 on the phone. Few days later, he again changed his mind and claimed that since my wife signed the quote, his charge was "legal". On 3/24 we agreed again to $500. But shortly after he texted me and changed his mind again and demanded a "gag order" meaning we won't write anything negative about C&C, and he won't process the refund.Desired Settlement: My desired settlement is for C&C to refund $625 unconditionally. Job's fair market value was $275-$375 based on other reputable plumbers, and I'm providing him with the higher end of that quote.
