C & R Towing

Review: C&R Towing had my car in their lot. I went to the office to pay my fee and present my license. I had to go in the car to get a copy of the registration in the glove compartment. I was shocked to find that all of my papers were all over the floor, the front passenger seat and the back seat and floor. I went back to the office to show my registration and I told the guy that my car was ransacked. He said he didn't know anything about it and he wasn't responsible. So I went back to the car, put my paperwork in a plastic bag on the passenger seat and walked around to drive away. The car was so close to the wall I couldn't get in from the driver's side. So another tow truck driver volunteered to get the car out for me. I couldn't climb over the seat myself due to physical limitations. This guy pulled my car out and I drove a few blocks when I noticed my driver's side mirror was gone. I pulled over and my friend who drove me there in her car pulled over and we were horrified. The mirror was hanging by a wire down the side of the car and was completely smashed. Then I looked on the driver's seat and noticed that my plastic bag with all my documents was missing. I searched the entire car and couldn't find them. I panicked so my friend searched the car again. We looked next to the seats, under the seats and the papers were missing. Now I'm really panicking that my license, registration, my receipt and driver's license were missing. We drove back to C&R towing and the guy told me to go to his boss across the street in the collision shop to get the mirror fixed. I was going to be charged for this since the guy said he wasn't responsible for the broken mirror. He said the car came to his lot that way. And he didn't know how the papers were all over the floor and that he gave me back my paperwork. Then the tow truck driver who climbed over my seat came in and I mentioned that the papers were missing. He said, "I didn't take them. I just helped you get your car out." He said I should look around the car again so I did. Then my friend also gave a second inspection but they weren't there. Both guys denied any responsibility for the theft or the damage to the car. We found the police and made a police report at the local precinct. I think I was taken advantage of and scammed. They may have knocked the mirror off when they pulled the car in so close to the wall. And somehow they got into the car and went searching for valuables in the glove compartment. This place may be a setup for scamming cars that are towed. They damage cars so that they can get more business for the owner in the collision place across the street. My concern is now for identity theft and I went and purchased identity theft detection and prevention. The police also told me to put a complaint in with the Revdex.com so here it is. I don't think I should pay for a new mirror but it's my word against his that the mirror came to the towing place already damaged.Desired Settlement: I would like the owner of the towing place who also owns the collision shop across the street to replace the broken mirror free of charge. I would also like an explanation from the tow truck driver as to what he did with my papers and what he intended to do with them. I told him I suspected identity theft and that this place takes advantage of women. Of course they denied everything and played dumb. I told them I was reporting them since I suspected that they are scammers.
