C and C Construction Reviews (1)

Review: C&C Construction built a [redacted] Bldg for me in 2013 and just weeks later when it rained I had 25 leaks in my roof. C&C told me before they left if they had to come back its a $500 minimum, so I called my [redacted] dealer and found out that I needed to just fix this myself, which did and found that their screws didn't hit Purlins. It took me 2 yrs to finish and move into my building and then found the following: Soffit only having 1 staple holding it on, staples used only penetrated 3/8",8 Purlins not nailed, not one nail holding them in place, gaps/openings in roof valleys where wind blew my attic insulation away and rain coming in, 2 bird blocks not installed, the ones that were were not nailed, not one nail holding any of them in place, Facia boards barely on the truss and nails missing the truss, facia cover not cut to fit down almost an inch on one end. Poor Workmanship on C&C Construction. This complaint is tied to a [redacted] Buildings complaint I made.Desired Settlement: I'm not asking for a settlement because I don't think the owner, Willis Childress would ever pay for his poor workmanship.

Response:

C and C Construction always puts customers first heres our take on the customers complaint

Building was built in October of 2011 not 2013. Customer was never told that there would be a $500 minimum charge to come back. We stand behind all our work customer never contacted us until 2 1/2 years later just to try and smear our name. All work performed including soffit was done to [redacted] building specifications on the plans. As for 8 purlins not nailed that would be impossible as each purlin is placed and nailed at the same time. Customer is just trying to find a scapegoat because it took him 2 years to finish after we left with our portion of the project completed. We have built over 400 buildings and over 400 satisfied customers its just a shame customer is acting this way. All customer had to do was call us with any issues instead 21 later he supposedly paid another company to fix issues and then said worequired $500 to come back wich is false Customer never once contacted us once we left until we received this letter. Any future customers that would like to view our portfolio or look at our work first hand please feel free to contact us .

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Regards,

I don't except Willis Childress's response at all, the facts that I stated on my complaint can be easily validated by the Amish Crew at [redacted] Bldgs. that I paid to fix my [redacted] Bldg., their lead Builder is [redacted].

1. In regards to the $500 minimum that Childress advised me of, I mentioned this to [redacted], just weeks after Childress left town and we found the 25 roof leaks. [redacted] can be contacted and he should remember that even though it was over 2 years ago. [redacted] was a [redacted] Dealer at the time.

2. 8 roof purlins not nailed - it was not me that found these screw ups, it was the Amish Crew that found it and even pulled one purlin up and out to show me, again this can be easily verified by calling [redacted] Bldgs. The lead Builders name is [redacted], he can verify my complaint.

3. As far as "All the customer had to do is call us" - I was not about to contact them and pay them to come back for the roof leaks which were found just weeks after they left town. I found out 2 years later from the [redacted] Regional Manager that they would have had to stand behind their work for free up to one year. The rest of the screw ups were not found until I moved into my bldg. 2 years later.

Any question about the authenticity of C&C Construction's screw ups can be easily verified by the Amish Crew at [redacted] Buildings. Looking back at this event I recognize now that Willis Childress thought he could come into my town and slap up my bldg. as quick as possible, make his money and get out of town, its builders like this that give the trade a bad name.
