Review: My family and I have been tenants of this mobile home community since September of 2010. This particular complaint that I'm filing is just the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. We've had nothing but issues since moving in but I will move on to the problem at hand. We have fallen on hard times lately and with a job switch, some unexpected medical costs and other unexpected expenses our rent ($264/month) was late in April, 2013. I received help from the V.S.O. that month to pay it but they don't pay late fees so I sent a check to my landlord for that fee ($20). As mentioned, I switched jobs in that month and so my Wife and I decided to go with a different bank. Having thought that everything had cleared, we closed the old account and proceeded with the new one without much thought. June 4th, 2013 I received a call from a collection agency stating that C. Cordial Communities had passed the debt on to them and that they were going to collect. The rep I spoke with stated that it was from May 3rd, 2013. Putting that into perspective, my landlord (who NEVER answers phone calls) refused to call the house to inform me that our closed bank accounts check bounced and instead felt it necessary to send a two week late $20 payment to collections, ruining my credit and now costing me a total of $53. Had she called, I could have sent a check from the new account and NONE of these issues would be present. However, because of her constant negligence in nearly every matter relating to our stay here, I find myself yet again frustrated and ready to move as opposed to feeling like I am coming "home" every day. On a side note, in May, [redacted] visited our home when I was gone at work three days in a row to complain to my Wife about a vegetable garden (that we have since taken out) and had a PERFECT opportunity then to talk to her about the check and failed to do so. We believe this action is an attack out of spite about said garden as opposed to a professional attempt to collect a debt.Desired Settlement: I owe [redacted] Cordial $20 for a late fee, this fact is undisputed. However, I do not feel that the short order collection action was warranted and therefore would like it rescinded and my credit to remain clear. I have already agreed to pay said agency $53 tomorrow (6/6/13) and therefore I suppose, would need a refund of the $33 difference if this request could possibly be met.
