C H T Apartment Rentals

Prior to renting with CHT, I had only heard about "terrible leasing companies." Not only are they totally unorganized, but they are completely unprofessional. When I was a student in Madison and renting from them for $2200/mo, if they did not receive one of the 3 tenants payments before the due date, there would already be an eviction notice on your door the day it is due. This evidently became an actual problem over winter break when one of my roommates parents forgot to send the rent check. Trying to clear up a very common and unintentional mistake, they would conduct business with a very condescending (especially) students manner. Demeanor aside, if odds of an argument were not in CHT's favor, they would lie, manipulate, and viciously attack their tenants just to come closer to winning. Whatever the case would be, they were there to make it the most difficult process to recovery as possible--again, especially when it was their fault. In the end, thankfully I was employed by two attorneys who were able to conduct a much more reasonable approach with CHT on my behalf, concerning my security deposit. In Madison, WI (I'm not sure how wide the jurisdiction extends about the proceeding law) landlords are neither required to limit maximum security deposit amount equal to one months rent, nor list in detail the reasons for keeping a security deposit. Those two changes alone, should prepare renters for even more dishonesty when doing business with CHT.

Of course, I could have been smarter about this, but I can assure you, from the several people I heard who had problems with CHT before I had rented with them to the endless complaints parallel to mine, it is in anybody's best interest to take extra time/money to rent someplace else.
