C & J Water

I had a rented water softener from EcoWater Systems for about twelve years (inherited from the previous home-owner). On February 2nd, 2012, I purchased and installed my own water softener because the rented one was old and not performing as efficiently as desired. Within that week, we called EcoWater Systems to cancel services and inform them that their softener had been uninstalled and asked them what their standard procedure was for picking up the old one. They said they'd have someone call us when there was a truck in the area. After two weeks with no response, we called again to set up a pick up day, and we were told a truck wasn't going to be in the area for a while. This happened twice before I offered to just drop it off at their local office so that the "truck" could just pick it up from there. Apparently, that's wasn't acceptable, so long story short, the EcoWater softener sat in my garage until July! Within that time, we contacted them several times about our disappointment and that I was especially concerned with why they were still billing us. The man I spoke with at the Forest Lake location said he'd take care of it. Now it's October 1st and I just received a PAST DUE bill for two more months worth of service... for a water softener that they picked up 3 months ago! I feel I've tried everything reasonable to get through to them, but they just can't respond coherently. Not to mention, my wife actually paid them for February through May (over a HUNDRED DOLLARS for a service we no longer had). She said she thought it was just easier to pay them since we did technically still have the softener. Now, how can that be fair when the only reason we still had the softener was because they couldn't get a truck out to me, plus they wouldn't let me drop it off!? They are only 5 miles from my house! For a little clarification, I live in Forest Lake, MN, which has an EcoWater Systems office, but the pick-up service (the truck) comes from their branch in Eagan, MN (45 miles away).
