C & L Auto Sales, Inc Reviews (3)

It’s shocking for C&L Auto to receive a complaint from J[redacted], after we went the extra mile to take care of our customer. We informed Miss [redacted], that when she decided to leave her car for repairs, she needs to take everything valuable  from it. We don’t want to be responsible for any...

missing objects from the car. She complied. “I did take everything I need, don’t worry about it, because I am not it’s only a beach chair.” Only 2 people drove and test her car, [redacted] and his wife [redacted] on 2 different time and miles to make sure the repairs were done and it’s not overheating again. The total bill was $1071.73, we reduce to $877.58. We informed Miss [redacted] about it, she was pleased happy when she left not to mention she put it on a credit card that we will pay the fee on it. When it comes to the change in the cup, we did not see a cup full of change or just a cup. We offered $20 to $25 because we don’t know what the change situation is. She declined, we apologized for the inconvenience that we might caused. As far as the mechanic he is a good man. Trustworthy, worked on cars w/cash and not received one complaint about any missing items or money

In October of 2012 I started looking around to purchase a used vehicle for a dealership. A friend brought me to C&L Auto Sales because it was close by to his home and I originally looked at a 2000 [redacted] however when I was suppose to pick up the car it was still making the same strange noises that the guy running the place [redacted] had said were were just struts and would be taken care of before I came to close the deal. I refused to take the [redacted] in its present condition so [redacted] suggested I go with a [redacted] S which had just arrived on his lot that day which was a little more money but a lot better car. I test drove the [redacted] and it did indeed infact sound and ride alot better than the [redacted]. However, I was concerned that the check engine light was on in the car and asked him about this. He informed me it was one of the 02 sensors in the car or perhaps the catyilic converter but not to worry he intnded to take care of it before this car was sold. With this I agreed to come back next week when he was done doing the necessary repairs and buy the [redacted]. A week later when I went to pick up the car the check engine light was no longer on in the car and while signing the papers he indicated to me verbally that he had changed out an 02 sensor and the car was good to go. However a few days later the check engine came back on and I went to my local Autozone had them hook it up to their diagnostic machine to see what the code was and read 02 sensor, air flow, and possible faulty catalytic converter. I promptly called [redacted] to tell him that the light came back on at which point he told me my car had 3 sensors and it was possible maybe it was another different sensor bring it in and he would fix it. Over the course of the next few months from December to March I brought the car in for the same repair at least 5 times, the car would be at the dealership from one day up to a week greatly inconveniencing me trying to someway find rides both to and from my classes at [redacted] College and my two jobs. Every time I would get the car back in a matter of a few days at the most a week the check engine light would be back on and a stop at [redacted] would result in the same the code print out. Each time [redacted] would claim his repair men swapped out an 02 sensor but when further questioned begin to fumble when I pointed out that if the car contains only 3 sensors and the car had now gone there 5 times - what had been done the other two times it had gone there? When I asked to see service orders and repair bills [redacted] said they weren't willing to do that. My boyfriend also called asking to see receipts for work done but [redacted] refused. We werent really sure what we could as we werent paying for this service so we werent sure if it was obligated to show us these receipts or not. After the 5th time - now in March [redacted] claimed that all the 02 sensors had been swapped out and it must be a faulty catalytic converter and told me to bring it in to receive a new converter. Once again the car was at the dealership was nearly a week before it was fixed meanwhile I was stuck trying to find rides. I asked for a rental vehicle but [redacted] said he none, I did once get a rental from him during repairs a car that overheated and upon 5 minutes of driving broke down so realistically I'm not sure a rental from his establishment would have helped me. I actually believed that he had done the work this time the check engine light stayed off for nearly a week and half before returning on. Once again I went back to [redacted] and got the same print out. I don't think in all the time [redacted] had my car in his shop he did one thing to it which would probably add up to a months time over the course of the last 6 months I've been making payments on the car. I'm just disgusted that the check engine is still on 6 months later for the same reason it was on the day I looked at it. I know the 02 sensor is not a big deal when it comes to cars but this is something that was suppose to be fixed before I ever took this car off the lot - that by trickery and unplugging the battery he has avoided repairing and also made a fool out of me. I have missed friends birthdays, engagement parties, days of work, classes, all because I didn't have a car because it was sitting in his lot and it would be one thing if it had been there getting repaired but it was not. It was just sitting there; he was pretending to fix it - keeping it for long lengths of time to make it seem like he did so much work when in reality nothing was done. This is unethical and just unacceptable.
