On 1/9/2014 we contacted this business because I discovered a leak under my water heater. I got a call back within 30 minutes and was told they would be out within an hour. They showed up as planned and indicated the water heater needed replacing. They shut off and drained the water heater and indicated they would be out the next day.The next day they did not show up and did not call. I placed a voice mail in the early evening to which the owner responded within 30 minutes and indicated a family emergency had occurred. He offered to come out the next day first thing (Saturday). The owner did come and did work most of the afternoon to replace the water heater. He quoted us a verbal charge of almost $1700.00. He promised an invoice by email. I noted that the pipe wraps that was originally on the unit were not replaced. I went out the next day and purchased them myself and installed them. This small item is not part of our complaint. On 1/17 I went into our garage and noted the distinct smell of gas. I went to the water heater and could smell the leak from one of the connectors. I opened the garage and immediately called the owner. He indicated the danger was not immediate since the leak was in the garage and I should keep the door open and he would come in 3 hours (in the afternoon). By early evening he did not show up and did not call. We had to shut off the gas all together and call in another plumber the next day. The second plumber indicated he found 3 gas leaks due to improper joint seals. Aside from the gas issue which could have been dangerous to us, our pets, and our home, we still have no invoice. We have no idea the cost of the unit and whether this was a fair or exorbitant labor char. I am personally surprised, as dealings with this owner several years ago on 2 different occasions let me to use him again - something that will not occur in the future. Final Consumer Response The response we got was a voicemail apparently after receiving our complaint from Revdex.com. The reason this time - a sudden death in the immediate family. A tragedy to be sure. But it occurred within 1 hour of our call that we had a gas leak. For a second time we were left without any information and any contact. We have not gotten, nor do we realistically expect, any kind of effort to compensate us for work not done correctly or for work that needed to be subcontracted. And lastly we are fairly sure that no INVOICE will ever be provided - that would require justification of what was done and what was charged. There is nothing this business is required to do for this mess and that is exactly what we expect they will no doubt provide - nothing.Final Business Response Invoice was emailed to customer on 2/11/2014, and a hard copy will be sent out via USPS, along with with a bank certified check of $100 for the reimbursement of monies paid to fixed leak. Consumer Response fyi - my spouse got a call, gave an email address again, and was told invoice and certified check were coming. we got an invoice - no certified check (or any renumeration for that matter). Caveat Emptor is my advice to anyone interested.
