C Mart of Herald Street

We purchased a five pound bag of raw peanut on 16th OCT. from C-mart located at [redacted] Street. Three days later, we opened the bag and found the raw peanuts have abnormal smell. We tried to boil a couple of peanuts and found the taste also bad. Therefore, I went to C-mart on 21st OCT. and talked to the manager whose name is [redacted]. He told me since the bag was opened and he couldn't feel any abnormal smell from these peanuts, he can't return it to me. I explained to him the peanuts were not fresh and the original package doesn't have any production date as well as date of expiration. He insisted that it was normal that lot of food packages don't have the date of expiration in this chinese food supermarket. I couldn't agree with this point and was disappointed about his explaination. The food is important for human health, if it was not fresh or stored too long time in the market, the retailer should be responsible for it either allow to return or exchange it. Also, every package of food should be labeled with the information of expiration date.
