C. Mota Contracting

Review: I hired C. Mota Contracting to do some remodel work and add a small addition to my home in January 2014. The work they completed was substandard and unfinished, though paid for in full. I have spent thousands of dollars hiring a professional dry-wall installer to finish and fix their dry-wall/plaster work, and hiring another contractor to remove poor quality exterior trim, fix holes and gaps they left in exterior walls (where wall meets the roof line - and where birds and other critters have begun to nest), to finish interior and exterior trim, repair the bathroom fan vent they installed, and to repaint after dry-wall had to be repaired. In addition, after we discovered a substandard roofing job they did (our local building inspector informed us the roof was not to code) C. Mota contracting was required to strip the roof and re-roof. However, they had already cut a vent into the peak of roof. The subsequent stripping allowed all of the old asphalt shingle bits (3 layers!) into the attic, ruining and destroying virtually everything that was stored up there, and leaving us with a mess that we cannot even begin to clean up ourselves. C. Mota Contracting is representing himself as Revdex.com accredited, which it appears from this website he is not. They used the lowest grade/quality materials, never cleaned up after their work leaving us with major cleaning expenses (nails left throughout the property, pieces of metal, soot, dust, drywall, wood etc), and the quality of the work is substandard (ruined hardwood floors, work that is not level etc). In addition, the owner asked me to make payments to him when payments, per our contract, were not due. When I refused to pay until a certain amount of work was completed after the first request, his crew did not return for over a week. When I refused to pay him in full before the job was completed and inspected he vaguely threatened me (telling me I was making a poor decision and he would give me time to think about it). After the job went longer than it was supposed to, C. Mota contracting stated they would pay the additional costs for our storage pod. He never did, and we ended up paying hundreds of dollars more for storage, and couldn't even get the pod out of our yard until we paid in full (after we thought Mota paid for the additional time).Desired Settlement: I want to make sure that this contractor is not representing himself as Revdex.com accredited if he is not. He wears the Revdex.com logo on his coat and it is on all of his materials. In addition, I want others to know the experience that I had, in order to ensure that they do not spend thousands of dollars for poor quality materials and workmanship, and end up having to spend thousands more to finish and fix this company's work. I wish I had seen a review like this when I visited this website, as I would have looked further into this company's reputation.

[redacted] Mota as well as the people he has working for him are far from experienced professional contractors. The work that was performed on my house is beyond words awful. From used materials, to crooked installation of lights, to the lowest grade of materials possible..that is what you'll get if you hire this man. Even his electrician is awful.. They rewired my 3 family due to a fire and had 3rd floor tied into 1st and 3rd floor tied into second. Had to rehire another electrician to get the job done right! I also had to rehire another contracted who estimated me a hefty bill to replace/redo what was done incorrectly and poorly. My siding needs to be redone due to two different colors installed and is buckling Two windows that were installed need to be replaced due to improper installation and is now leaking. Deck needs to be redone due wrong nails used to install and boards are now lifting. Wood floors on two floors need to be replaced because they were not installed properly and are cracking and separating. Pretty much everything they touched...the list is long...was done poorly. My insurance company paid this man handsomely and the work I got is far from that. He also got paid to do many things that he did not. He took advantage of a desperate situation and showed up on the day of my house fire... His words to me where..I don't take anything that is not mine or I don't deserve..at the end of this project you and your family will be going to Disney land. The only thing me and my family got was disappointment, a whole lot of aggravation and more bills!
