This company towed my car after being called by the Nassau County Police because it was involved in an accidentThe company told us it would be $cash only! When I went to pay this ridiculous fee for a tow and a few days of storage, the company had the nerve to charge me sales taxNo credit cards accepted I was toldI highly doubt that they will be paying that tax to the stateDo not use this placeThey are con artists and the Nassau County Police should take them off the rotation for tow calls

Review: I was involved in a car accident on December [redacted], 2013 and my car needed to be repaired. I decided to have my car repaired at C&N auto body shop located at [redacted] located on [redacted]. Prior to agreeing to repairs, I visited the location on December **, 2013 and spoke with [redacted] who claimed to be the owner. During my visit I stressed the importance of having the car completed as soon a possible as I was in the process of moving to Arizona (Moving from NY to Arizona). I informed him that I had a new job and life waiting for me in Arizona. It was during this time that [redacted] stated that "it's a two week job" and that the car would definitely be completed within two weeks. He stated that if I signed the paperwork to repair the car on that day (December **,2013), he would order the parts the car needed that same day and repairs would begin on thursday December **, 2013, granted that December **, 2013 was a holiday. He went on further to explain that my car would be completed on thursday January *, 2014. Upon his reassurance, I agreed to the repairs.

Over the course of the next two weeks I spoke with [redacted] on 2 separate occasions to inquire about the status of the repair. On both occasions he reported to me that all the parts are in and that everything was going according to schedule. I made a third phone call to the repair shop on January *, 2014 to find out what time the next day (January *,2014) would be a good time to stop by and pick up the car. It was during this phone call that [redacted] reported to me that the car would not be available for pick-up because the repairs were not completed. He reported that the car would

not be ready until the following week, adding that he would call me on January **, 2014, that upcoming friday to give me an exact date.

I visited the repair shop on January *, 2014 unannounced (the day the repairs were to be completed) to witness the progress of the repairs. At this time I discovered that the car was no where close to being completed. I then requested to have my car released to another repair shop where my car would be a priority. I was later presented with a bill in the amount of $2,241.80 in order to release the car. In reviewing the bill there were very minimal work done to the car as I had confirmed. In addition, the charges were exaggerated for the work [redacted] claimed that he performed. The billing reflected that he spent extentive and exaggerated hours for the minimal work done. From speaking with different repair shops, the work that [redacted] claimed he performed does not take that much effort or time that he is billing me for. Additionally, in reviewing the bill and the original estimate that was written by Geico Insurance Company that stated the work that the car needed. I discovered that I was charged for work that was never agreed upon and that was never on the original estimate for repairs by Geico. Overall, I was charged for work that the car did not need.

I have been trying to get the car released or repaired and has unsuccessfully been able to do so. [redacted] has been dragging this repair out at my expense. He stated that he would repair my car and later added stipulations to the repair after the car had been sitting at his repair shop. He requested that I signed an estimate that he wrote up for the repairs. In reviewing and examining his written estimate I discovered that the estimate that he wrote and the estimate that Geico originally submitted for the repairs were not equivalent. There were differences among the estimates. Among all the differences. One difference that stood out to me the most was the fact that on the original estimate the car needed an air bag sensor and that was not reflected on the estimate that [redacted] submitted to me and wanted me to sign. In questioning [redacted] about the differences, he stated to me that the estimates were going to be two different estimates because he is not fixing the car based on Geico’s estimate. He also added that he will be using different parts on the car. It was at this time I made a final decision to have my car removed from his repair shop because I am concerned about my safety.

I have been trying to contact the shop without success. I am no longer in NY because I had to leave the state to start my new job. I have been calling the repair shop to inquire about what I need to do to get my car released and [redacted] has hung up the phone on me on two separate occasions and all the message that I have left has been unanswered. When I last spoke with [redacted] he stated he is not dealing with me and that I can have the towing company/ repair shop that the car will be transferred to contact him. Determined to have my car removed from this repair shop I had the body shop where the car will be transferred to contact [redacted] on my behalf. [redacted] has submitted a new bill in the amount of $2,947.90, which has exceeded the original bill of $2,241.80. [redacted] has added storage fees to the bill for the days the car has been sitting at his shop because he stated that he will repair the car. This is beyond ethical. At this point, the is no way that I can contact him, because he hangs up the phone or does not return my phone call. As the owner of the vehicle I should have the right to communicate with the repair shop. It’s irrational and not practical for me to have my car removed from this shop and stop incurring charges if I’m not able to communicate with the repair shop. To make matters worst, [redacted] has been jeopardizing the chance of me having my car repaired by this new repair shop. He has stated to the owner of the shop “good luck with that car”. As if to imply that something is wrong with the car that he only knows about.

I just need to put and end to this irrational, unprofessional and childish madness and move on with my life. I am hoping that you would be able to assist in mediating this nightmare so I can have my car back in my possession.Desired Settlement: Since they are not willing to repair my car to correct way, I would like to have my car released to the shop of my choice where my car will be repaired properly and where my car will be a priority. I want that to be done at a fair price and I also need directions on how to get the car released since I'm not in NY at the moment.

I need someone from the shop to communicate directly with me
