Review: My car has been stalling for the past month and I've had two previous repairs done to the car, a new alternator and ignition coil. My previous mechanic was stumped and referred me to C and R Automotive. In bringing the car to this establishment on Tuesday, August 6th, I was informed that I would pay a diagnostic fee of $95 and then notified of the repair that needed to be done. The next day, I was contacted and told that I needed to replace the crankshaft sensor and given a quote of $340(including diagnostic fees). On Thursday August 8th, I was contacted and told that the crankshaft sensor was replaced and that additional services/labor was needed in order for it to be operable (the car was not starting). However, I was informed of this additional labor after it had been already done. This brought my original quote of $340 to $585. I did not authorize or approve for these additional services, however, I was expected to pay this large bill (of which was all claimed to be labor related, as no other parts were repaired or replaced). I feel that C and R should honor the original quote, seeing that my consent was not given to proceed further than the crankshaft replacement. Surprisingly enough, the car continued to exhibit stalling issues later within the weekend.

On 8/06/13 [redacted] brought her jeep to C&R auto for quitting problems.
We had discussed with her the vehicle would not act up for us long enough to make a diagnosis. At first we recommended a crankshaft sensor, in which was original in this vehicle which sometimes can cause the problem she was experiencing. This was a recommended item only then we could further diagnose her vehicle if the sensor did not correct the problem. After we installed the crank sensor we could get the jeep to mis-spark at times , we called her as documented on our work order and asked [redacted] for more diagnostic time. We then found a problem in the computer or connector, if we moved connector at computer we could make the vehicle quit. We again explained to the customer that if the quitting issue does continue she will need a new computer and or connector to repair the problem. We also took off connector , cleaned & greased connector at this point we could not make the vehicle fail. We explained she would need to drive it to see what happens again we stated if problem continues she would need that computer or connector.
I called her on 8/15/13 to see why she did not call us with her complaint.
I then asked her where the car was now and she said it was at another garage to be diagnosed. I asked her why because we already knew what was wrong with her jeep and how she was wasting money & time that she had already spent to have C&R diagnose her vehicle. IF she had shown the other garage our findings they could repair what we had found.
At no time did the customer call me to talk to me about any problems. We did not know if the vehicle was still acting up or not.
On 8/07/13 she was quoted 341.04 for recommended original crankshaft sensor , we revised estimate 8/08/13 for the further diagnosis at 1:30 pm with [redacted] and [redacted] as stated on our worksheet.
The work that we had completed was discussed with [redacted] completely throughout the time her vehicle was in our garage.
If there is any more information that is needed from us please let us know and we will provide whatever is necessary.
Sincerely
owner
