C & R Tire - Frank Lloyd Wright Reviews (8)

With all due respect, I'm sure the 6060ax is a fine machine, and if used properly, would produce satisfactory results. However, it was not used properly which caused damage to the rims. It was not curb rash. You cannot damage the top of the flange without damaging the face of the rim/flange. This was caused by some sort of bar or lever that either puts the tire on or takes it off. And furthermore, curb rash does not burr the metal. Too much force was used to do the job. And, as per the instructions for this machine, the installer should have inspected the wheels with the customer before working on the wheels. This was not done.
I have provided images to further illustrated my point.
Image file-1.jpg - burred metal. Wrong angle for it to be curb rash. Angles directly into the tire. Where the bar goes to seat the bead. No damage to the face of the rim. Impossible to do with a curb.
Image file-2.jpg - Carelessly scratched and dirty.
Image file-4-1.jpg - burred metal. Curbs don't burr. This was force.
Image file 5-1.jpg - Each of the spokes are scratched/pock marked. Curb rash? Really?

These images show the damage as it was when the car was returned to me. I have still not cleaned or used the car since. This was not curb rash or carelessness on my part. I will not return to this business for any work needed. I do not accept the this resolution.

Tell us why here...

On 8/23/2016 we installed two rear tires on Mr. [redacted]s Porsche. They were mounted with a Coats 6060Ax Rim Clamp machine which does not touch the rim.On 8/27/2016 Mr.[redacted] came by to inspect the rims and they were damaged by road rash from coming in...

contact with curbs or such.We are open to having the rims repaired and passing on our discounted cost to Mr. [redacted].

We can not open and see the pictures in question.Would like to see them.Email them to [redacted] for our review.

We have reviewed the photos and we did not damage the wheels. We will once again offer to have the wheels refinished for the customer and charge him our cost.

Ridiculous.

There is absolutely no way that I did this to my own vehicle. This car is entered in car shows across the valley and is maintained with the utmost care and respect. For this "business" to display this kind of arrogance and complete lack of customer service is very disturbing. Not only are they denying the claim, but now they will fix the problem AND charge me for it.

Arrogance, zero customer service, disrespect, lack of ethics....

We reviewed the pictures and the wheels are damaged from road hazards and not our tire machine. We would be happy to have all four rims reconditioned and pass our cost on to the customer. If this is not acceptable I cant see us resolving this issue.

I have purchased all my tires for both my vehicles from these people. I also purchased a warranty agreement. When I purchased the tires, they told me I was getting a 85,000 warranty, They were NOT! I have a bad tire (Defect, per my auto mechanic, who I trust with my life) and they will not warranty it because it is 2000 out of warranty. I will not do business nor will I ever tell anyone to go there. And if anyone asks, I will tell them to go to [redacted] on Bell Road and never visit a C & R T ire location. I went to the Cave Creek location and Scottsdale, both locations treated me with little or no respect. They were rude and very condencending.

Review: Yesterday [June 12, 2013] I agreed to an oil change at C+R Shop at 9580 Raintree Dr Scottsdale AZ (480)657-6656

I arrived at C + R around 2pm for an oil change, by 3 o'clock my car was returned with the oil change done. Upon checking out, the manager had giving me a 'must take care' list of things. On the list the number one priority was to change THE serpentine belt. One that runs the air conditioning, and radiator, So I was told by the manager at C+R. Upon seeing this I took the proposal for work and went to have lunch at Jack in The Box, upon finishing my lunch I called C+R and said I was willing to change that belt right now for the $150 they had quoted.

I returned to shop before 3pm. Within 10 minutes and had them change the belt they had suggested. By 6 O'clock they were not able to work the tension switch on it and said they would take me home, and to pick up car today, since they would have more time to adjust belt.

As it turns out, C+R called me a few moments before 8am today saying that now the switch toggle device that controls the tension for the serpentine belt is broken.

and for me to pay the cost nearing $1000.00

They have also said that because they probably contributed to the issue at hand that they would cover some $200-$300 but I still have to pay close to $600 to get my car out today.

I am reaching out to you today, since I could not have caused the tension belt adjustor to brake, since it is obvious that they A) did not have the proper tool for the job. B} forced the tension adjustor and broke it and C) this is totally outside of my original agreement with the shop that in order to replace the belt I was already paying or had agreed to pay the total amount of $150 ($90 was labor cost on it) to replace the SERPENTINE belt on my 1989 Mercedes Benz. I had mentioned the car has been in the family since 1989 as my grandpa had the car garaged and did not use it much but maybe some $5k miles every other year. The car is in otherwise excellent condition for a car this old and with only 120,000 miles on it.

to summarize this message I would like Channel 3 , [redacted] - On your side, to intervene as this is clearly a scam. I am not liable for the extravagant cost they have come up with today on the fly, close to $600 it is clear they are responsible for. Concerned friends suggested I reach out, to fight for consumers who have been wronged by shops in the past and to fix this situation at once.

Shop is being unfair and not 'just' with their business practice and behavior and clearly not taking care of the customer, rather, abusing and trying to scam the consumer. We need this actions to stop and expose this business, who clearly may not need to be in business.

I can be reached at [redacted]

Concerned Consumer

I am willing to be on camera, willing to be interviewed about this issue and willing to expose this business for wrong-doing.

--

[redacted]Desired Settlement: I wish to have C & R shop repair, cover the cost and since they now are preventing me from working today, to complete repairs at their own expense. If unable to receive my car repaired as requested, then I request shop leave car in working condition and complete SERPENTINE belt placement/tension adjustment because its their original agreement and it is their responsibility at the $150 quoted price. That's what I am willing to do right now. It is obvious further damage to complete repair on vehicle was their fault, and they admitted to it, they are just unfairly trying to make me pay for it.

Response:

The complaint was resolve at the point of sale.

We agreed to fix customers car for the first estimate we gave him. Extra work was done at no charge.

Response:

[A default letter is provided here which indicates your acceptance of the business's response. If you wish, you may update it before sending it.]

Upon viewing the results, I still had to be out of work/no car for 3 days. 2 Additional days because of delayed turn around on the work provided. Furthermore, the $175.00 I paid should be credited towards a set of 4 tires they had quoted since no complimentary outcome was offered. I hope in the future our relationship can be transparent and clear up front. Blessings!!

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.
