CAA Saskatchewan Motor Club Reviews (1)

December 26, 2012 CAA put a new battery into my 2005 [redacted] claiming it was the best in the market and that it would go in any SK weather. December 2013 CAA roadside assistance boosted my car twice and tested the battery 3 times claiming each time their battery was testing okay and that they could not replace it under warranty since their tests showed that it was perfectly fine. I even spoke to their car center in Saskatoon. Not once did they consider it could be their battery. [redacted] The test done on the car dealt with making sure my block heater cord was okay and than on Dec.31, 2013 I got the car tested to see if there was a drainage problem like CAA claimed there was. There was no drainage and no problem with the alternator and when the battery was tested it showed that it needed replacing. In layman's terms the battery was not producing like it should so my battery was never fully recharging despite driving it most days. I was informed that the testing CAA does when it comes out does not necessarily tell the whole story. I did get the garage to put in a new battery knowing that the 3 year full replacement warranty with CAA;s battery was probably void. [redacted]Desired SettlementCosts associated with getting the car back on the road especially that of the battery and tests to prove they were wrong. It would also be nice to see some extra money reflecting the amount of time, stress, and bad service provided especially the first time they came out to boost me ( a complaint was made about this through their web site). No apology was ever given when approached with the fact it was their battery and not the car that was at fault.Business Response Thank you for your letter of April 8th. This battery service was handled by [redacted], which is our road service contractor in Saskatoon. Although we have records of service being performed, we do not have any record of a complaint on this issue. We stand behind our products, and will be refunding the original purchase price of the battery, removing the four road service calls from the member's usage records, and issuing $50.00 in [redacted] gas coupons for the inconvenience. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)There has been two complaints made, via CAA website and I will check my records to see if I have printed them out. [redacted] never came out. It was CAA battery department van that came out each time. [redacted] AS LONG AS THE ORIGINAL COST OF THE BATTERY plus $50 for gas I will accept things. [redacted]Final Business Response The refund and gas coupons were issued shortly after the initial notification. As per the customer's comments, we consider the matter closed.
