embezzlement and that is in the hands of the phoenix police department. The manager admitted that she gave out erroneous receipts. In this case, she told tenants if they paid her in cash she would give them a discount. So, this tenant who never was able to pay her rent on time, paid rent two months in advance, knowingly or unknowingly that this money was being stolen. Secondly, the tenant claims that she bought the refrigerator from the manager for $200, and she has a $200 receipt that claims “Fridge.” If this $200 is to purchase the refrigerator then the tenant was short $200 of rent back in August.
Thirdly, all her receipts that she brought to us were dated after the manager was fired and all tenants were notified. On 9/25/14 I entered an agreement(see enclosed) with the tenant that she would move out by the end of September and I would not charge any more rent, refund her deposit ($300) less damages as per the contract, and reimburse her the $200 for the refrigerator. She would leave the refrigerator in the unit.
She did indeed move, and cleaned her unit. But, she took the security door with was screwed into the unit. We charged her $150 for that. So, she had $300 deposit plus the $200 refrigerator money minus the $150 for removing a fixture in the unit that being the security door. Therefore, we paid her back $350 after she moved, and in accordance to the agreement. Please call me if you have any questions.
