Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that California Auction Company has allowed us to pick up items that were not paid for, but we feel that they did not take fair and ethical bids of our large European Antiques and per the previous response by California Auction Company wanted to argue the authenticity of our antiquesI am not here to argue with any one, in my 100% honest opinion they did not uphold Ethical Bids for us as their customersI did not expect outrageous bids or unattainable bids, but indeed did speak at length with ***, all items were ticketed with the original price with item number and written matching invoice, so their was no question what we had originally retailed our items There is no question that this transaction, as a whole, was much more valuable than the $2,total check received for all items My invoice of all items was well over $30,000, which I fully understand is the retail price I would have collected, I fully did not expect thatThis was a gross misrepresentation of the return that was expectedIf an ethical BID was not obtained, I assumed that California Auction House would have protected me, by not allowing an unfair and unethical BID, with return of said merchandiseAgain, I am an ethical and just business woman and do take some fault for not asking enough questions or critiquing their page contract more thoroughlyThis has been a very painful financial lesson, considering I now have to come up with an additional $18,to pay off what is owed, and I want it known that others should be cautious when taking their valuables to California Auction Company It appears that they do a good job with auctioning off Police Seizures, Foreclosures and bankruptcies, as these items are usually sold off at whatever amount, but we were a small family business who's property was all we had leftRegardless of any additional words from California Auction Company, we are heartbroken and feel we have been taken advantage of I am letting go of this and attributing it as very painful life lesson Sincerely, [redacted] ***

I am rejecting this response because: My husband, [redacted] *. [redacted] never became hostile or hung up, we have run our reputable, family owned boutique for 8 yrs and have never been treated or threatened by any business. [redacted] verbally threatened my husband and we had him on speaker phone with multiple witnesses to the conversation. what type of business makes physical threats to their customers and calls them [redacted] All we ever wanted was to be treated fairly and honestly. California Auction House in apparently not honest in their statements or business practices, evident by false statements made here. I want to go on record that [redacted] was very hostile and threatened physical violence and refused and threatened us if we attempted to come retrieve our property on May 6th, as promised by [redacted] . I have never been treated or spoke to this was by a reputable business. When I spoke with [redacted] on May 3rd, 2016, I was just asking questions about the status of our property and what the next steps were. She was very defensive and hostile towards me, telling me she had 30 yrs of auction experience and she made me feel that I should know the answers to my questions and became angry with me for asking. I have never been to auction and so, my questions were valid and as the customer I have a right to know the status. We placed our property at California Auction House on 04/14/2016, we need to know when California Auction House will be paying for the items sold and proof of payment, as of May 6th. We expect payment for items that have an invoice as of May 6th, no later than May 14th, which is 30 days from the day of the contract. I would like a date in writing from [redacted] when she plans of providing payment, minus their contracted commission of 30%, per written signed contract. We will contact [redacted] today to arrange a time to pick up the remaining property, that did not have an invoice of May 6th. My recommendations for California Auction House is to provide their customers with a detailed contract with dates, times, and expectations of service provided by California Auction House. Communication, returning phone calls and emails from their customers would alleviate assumptions and miscommunication. Clearly communicate expectations and services by both parties. There is no need to make verbal and physical threats or withhold property from your customers. [redacted] and [redacted] need to communicate and clearly understand what each party is promising to their customers. The customer should not be placed in the middle, they should set standards between them and all other employees who communicate directly to their customers. Resolution at this point: We will call [redacted] to pick up remaining property today and want a date in writing in which we can expect payment for items sold with invoice, as of May 6th, 2016, after which I will feel this matter will be resolved. An apology to my husband from ***, as part of your business ethics, which I hope you would want from your employees. I am fearful of ***, I would like him to not be present when we arrange a time for pick up. Thank you BBB, you have been very supportive in assisting us in resolving our concerns. Tell us why heTo Whom It May Concern,
May 2016We at California Auction Company LLCDid in fact receive merchandise on April 18th from *** ** ***. We however would and did not state that we would be selling it on the 24th of April. There would not be time to describe and picture and up load our auction to our host *** *** ** *** ** *** *** It is very time consuming to do all for mentioned. We did get it ready and up for May 1, 2016. No date at the time of receiving merchandise was disclosed, only that we would try as soon as possible to get it sold. *** told *** that she has had the merchandise in stores and in storage and had took it from here to *** and back. *** did put prices of approximately what she was selling it for. At that time *** told her we could not come close to what she was trying to sell it for and her comment was she was already upside down and did not want to pay storage for anything and just wanted to be done with it. *** told her we would do our best. *** also said this was antique furniture. It was in fact reproductions of antique furniture from Indonesia. *** had called me on Monday May 2, she wanted to know how she could view what was sold and for how much. I told her how to log onto *** *** and gave her my auctioneer ID to find the auction. Later that day, Mr*** called me and told me that they had reserves set to sell the furniture. I explained to him that we do not take or would of taken reserves on the furniture. The prices set on the furniture listed is what they were selling it for not reserves, as I told him to read the contract and attached paper work. He became very hostile regarding the prices of the sold merchandise and wanted to know if the people who bought it had paid for it. It was Monday, the day after the auction, and I explained to him that all had until Friday May 6th to pay for the merchandise bought. He insisted that I allow him to come and pick up the sold merchandise not yet paid for, not allowing the people who purchased it to have it. I told him we are a honest and reputable auction house and I could not do that to our customers. He at that time accused me of purchasing the merchandise for my own personable use and putting it in the back of our warehouse. That is not the way we do business here and I told him so. He wanted to know when he could pick up what was not sold and I told him Friday the 6th of May. He than ask if items were not paid for by this date could he take them and I agreed to that.Friday I was scheduled for medical procedure and was not in our office. Mr*** called *** different times regarding if people pay or not. *** told him everything was paid for that was sold at auction and his items that were not sold were ready for him to pick up. He than accused *** of us buying his merchandise to put in back or our warehouse for us to resell at a later date for profit. *** told him we do no do business that way Mr*** than told *** he had better not see us selling it at a later dateHe at this point hung up. Second time he called, he wanted to know when he could pick up his unsold things and *** said you can come today (Friday May 6). He than proceeded to ask about the items that were not paid for, *** told him everything has been paid for. He said the items showed Pending on *** *** and *** explained that we had been paid & it was not yet marked off *** ***. But we had paid in full invoices. He became frustrated with what *** was telling him and hung up once again on ***. The 3rd time he called he threatened to call the police and notify the Revdex.com about us. *** told him at that time he could notify the police and in fact to make sure he brought them with him because of his attitude *** said it was out of his hands to handle him with his attitude as I was not at our place of business until Monday, May 9th to settle with him.He may come any day this week and pick up all unsold items. I would appreciate a phone in advance as to when and what timeAttached are copies of the signed contract and copies of the listing of items that *** gave to ***. May you call me at the office at *** ** ** ** *** *** ** ***Thank You,*** ***

We brought our European antique furniture to California Auction House on 04/18/2016, we hand wrote an invoice and pricing that we agreed upon with ***, our contract was for an auction date of 04/24/They put our items online on 05/01/2016, without notifying us they had changed the dateI called the owner on 05/03/2016, *** ***, who informed me that that the bidders had until 05/06/to pay and after that any unpaid for bids could be picked upShe had already said we could pick up our card spinner, white shelve unit and table easelsI called and emailed multiple times to arrange for pickup of items that had no proof of payment as of May 6th, no return calls, no emailsWhen I finally got through to *** on May 6th, he refused to let me pick up my propertyEven in the contract it says I am responsible for picking up my unsold items within days from the date of auctionAlso, I feel they broke contract by not setting minimumsI honestly don't think there are any bid

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that California Auction Company has allowed us to pick up items that were not paid for, but we feel that they did not take fair and ethical bids of our large European Antiques and per the previous response by California Auction Company wanted to argue the authenticity of our antiques. I am not here to argue with any one, in my 100% honest opinion they did not uphold Ethical Bids for us as their customers. I did not expect outrageous bids or unattainable bids, but indeed did speak at length with [redacted], all items were ticketed with the original price with item number and written matching invoice, so their was no question what we had originally retailed our items.
There is no question that this transaction, as a whole, was much more valuable than the $2,271.50 total check received for all items.  My invoice of all items was well over $30,000, which I fully understand is the retail price I would have collected, I fully did not expect that. This was a gross misrepresentation of the return that was expected. If an ethical BID was not obtained, I assumed that California Auction House would have protected me, by not allowing an unfair and unethical BID, with return of said merchandise.
Again, I am an ethical and just business woman and do take some fault for not asking enough questions or critiquing their 1 page contract more thoroughly. This has been a very painful financial lesson, considering I now have to come up with an additional $18,000 to pay off what is owed,  and I want it known that others should be cautious when taking their valuables to California Auction Company.  It appears that they do a good job with auctioning off Police Seizures, Foreclosures and bankruptcies, as these items are usually sold off at whatever amount, but we were a small family business who's property was all we had left. Regardless of any additional words from California Auction Company, we are heartbroken and feel we have been taken advantage of.
I am letting go of this and attributing it as very painful life lesson.
Sincerely,

Thank you,

Review: I won 3 sports-related items from this company on 23 March via an online auction they held on iCollector.com. Two of the items were advertised to have a Certificate of Authenticity (COA); however, they did not. One was a mini NFL Minnesota Vikings helmet signed by Adrian Peterson, and the other a mini NFL New Orleans Saints helmet signed by Drew Brees. I've been dealing with one of the owners, JB Watters, since 1 April via email; however, she has stopped all communications with me. I have all email traffic available if needed.Desired Settlement: I want a full and complete refund on the cost of the items, the auction fees I incurred and the shipping costs. I also want to be fully reimbursed for the cost of shipping the items back to them.
