California Custom Trailers & Power Sports Reviews (1)

Review: Purchased new 2003 Charmac 6-horse gooseneck trailer from California Custom Trailers. Soon started having problems. Water storage tank leaked 1st day water put in, flooded tack room, saturated carpet (couldnt use past 11 yrs). 12 drop down feed doors (6 horses face side, 6 horses rear side). All frames literally fell apart (materials used cheap, hollow, tinny aluminum; design & manufacturer defect). Windows cant close because of this. 1 yrs after purchase, took trailer to them with list of repair items. Picked up trailer 2 wks later. Water storage tank not replaced (was told new one ordered, it also leaked, so kept my leaky tank in). Broken saddle rack, 1 window wont open, 1 stall divider latch wont close: not fixed. Broken drop down feed door frames were welded, now big glob of weld center of frame, windows still cant close (havent been able to use windows to close up trailer past 10 yrs). Shortly after ridiculous, poor quality fix, all frames broke again (weld came apart). Was told I'd have to leave trailer for 3 months if I wanted items repaired. Cant do. Use my trailer every week. July 2013 I ran into their employee (new service manager) at parade where trailer was parked. He looked at trailer; said Charmac hasnt made my drop down feed doors in years, he agreed materials used were cheap & major defect in design. I showed him where neck of trailer is separating from body of trailer. This really concerned him. Told me to bring trailer back. Dropped off trailer 1/16/14 with list of repair items. Got call next day from their now new service manager (business owners' son). Frame is broken; told me they will not fix anything for free. Told me that I did nothing wrong. They said: 6-horse trailer heavy to begin with, if you add 6 horses you add another 8 to 9,000 lbs. so weight caused frame to break. They designed/manufactured this SIX HORSE TRAILER this is their structural defect, poor workmanship. Charmac is owned by this business owner's parents in ID.Desired Settlement: I want the broken trailer frame completely repaired by California Custom Trailers (a dealer for Charmac Trailers in Idaho) at NO CHARGE TO ME. This repair needs to be completely done correctly & done so that the frame will never break/come apart again - especially since it's a 6-horse trailer hauling up to 6 horses at a time.I want the broken drop down feed doors completely repaired/replaced at NO CHARGE TO ME so that they are usable and so that my windows will now close and become usable.
