California Legal Pro's Incorporated Reviews (26)

Dear Ms. [redacted],
I am the new owner of California Legal Pros.
I received the below note from the Revdex.com. This is for a matter that took place before the change of ownership.
It is my understanding that you have been refunded the amount you paid for California Legal Pros services.
At this point, would you please remove any and all complaints from Revdex.com?
Thank you.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:
 I have emailed them...

again this morning.  If I don't get any response I need my money back.  I have to go to the county myself and see how the status of my divorce is  and take time off work.  Please, please help me out this business company does not seem to have the intention of completing  the job.

Thank you
Sincerely,
[redacted]

California Legal Pros provides assistance to landlords in filing unlawful detainer actions against tenants who owe past due rent.
In this case, a landlord engaged California Legal Pros to assist in the eviction of tenant [redacted] for non-payment of rent.  Ms. [redacted] was not a...

customer of California Legal Pros; she was the tenant who had not paid rent whom the landlord was trying to evict.
After providing a three-day notice to Ms. [redacted] to which the tenant did not comply to pay rent, the landlord filed an unlawful detainer action against Ms. [redacted].  That complaint was served to Ms. [redacted] by a staff member of California Legal Pros.  Ms. [redacted] attempted to avoid service by not answering her door, though the water in her premises was running. That was the third attempt to serve Ms. [redacted]. When Ms. [redacted] left the premises to go to a green [redacted] SUV in her driveway, the California Legal Pros staff member served her with the complaint.
The case ended up going before a judge who determined that the process that was followed was done so properly, and the judge granted the eviction.
The sheriff followed the judge's instructions and locked the tenant out of the property.
The rules were properly followed and a sheriff enforced a judge's order.
Ms. [redacted] evidently considers herself as a "scam artist", as that is what she includes on her Facebook self-profile (screen shot attached).
Please let me know if you need further information.

I have reached out via email to the customer to see if they are available for a phone conversation.  Once I have spoken with them and reviewed the facts of the case, I will be able to follow up with Revdex.com.

We have been in touch with the client and resolved the issue amicably.

California Legal Pros has been in touch with Ms. [redacted] and are attempting to work out an amicable solution that accomplishes her goal.  We do have the offices in the locations indicated on our website.  We are authorized to sign documents (only documents related to the client's...

eviction case) on behalf of clients by powers of attorney that clients sign and provide to us.  We rely on those documents to help expedite the process.  We have successfully worked on hundreds of evictions across California.  This particular instance is a complicated one, but one we are attempting to resolve.  We will provide an update to the Revdex.com once this is resolved.

We will contact this customer and work to finish the service for which we were engaged.

Please note that prior to the Revdex.com complaint, we had responded to the court with updated documentation.  That documentation was mailed to the court on January 20, 2016.  At this point, the documents remain with the court for processing.
We will continue to monitor the court's...

progress on this matter.  We have communicated all of the above to the customer.

Their website shows multiple offices in both Northern and Southern California but it is all one woman, Robin H[redacted], and there is no manager or corporate office with which to file a complaint.
Do not get scammed by this company the way I was! I hired them and paid them hundreds of dollars to file my small claims court paperwork. It took them over 1 month to file and then the court date was on a date where I am out of town. I still never received any paperwork from them about my court date or information on where/when to show up. They were supposed to go back and refile with the court for a new court date but it's a month later and they still haven't filed. They refuse to return phone calls or emails and finally after sending them several emails and phone calls, I had to threaten to sue them to get them to return my email (the irony!). It's a few days prior to my original court date and they just now tell me that they are unable to go refile at the new court because they don't have time. So now I'm stuck going to the court to get a new court date and I should have just handled all of this myself from the beginning instead of paying for sub-par customer service and a job that wasn't done properly.
Learn from my mistake and do not use this company. They seem great at the beginning and are extremely responsive until you pay them and then it's impossible to get them back on the phone or via email.

Please find attached Ms. [redacted]'s order form.  Please note the item "Personal Service and Filing of Proof of Service."  Please note the item is not circled or otherwise noted as being ordered.  Please note the other items on the form which are marked as ordered.
Ms. [redacted] did not order or pay for CLP to personally serve the uncontested divorce petition and summons on her spouse.
The order form is crystal clear in what services are available and what services she ordered.
Rather than accept responsibility for the service of her spouse (which is her responsibility), she blames our company in this Revdex.com forum.
We have attempted to help Ms. [redacted] again and again, including by providing her with specific acknowledgement forms to have signed by her spouse.  We have gone above and beyond with our efforts to help Ms. [redacted].
Unfortunately, she doesn't seem to understand that if she doesn't order and pay for a service, the company is not responsible for providing the service.

In our previous response to the Revdex.com we found it necessary to correct the effort of Cal Legal Pros to distract us from the complaint we have against them, which is simple:
The owner of Cal Legal Pros, botched the legal work we gave them under power of attorney forcing a need for one of the two cases we paid them in advance to handle for us to be refiled with the court. During a phone conversations between ourselves and the company owner Mr. Timm, we asked Mr. Timm to pay the $75.00 fee for refiling the case since he had failed to address the court during the time they provided him to do so, despite having our power of attorney to do so. During this phone call in which myself, my assistant Stuart [redacted]an, and Mr. Timm were each present, Mr. Timm refused to pay the court fee but INSTEAD offered to refund ALL the money we had paid him for the case in question, of course, as well as another one. We accepted his offer but he later reneged, claiming it wasn’t his responsibility to make the refund.
Please see relevant emails below of October 9, 2014, where in it was necessary for us to remind Mr. Timm of the promise he made to refund our money and showing how Mr. Timm immediately attempted to dishonor the promise he made to provide a complete refund for his botched work whereby he then said he would “look into” what services his company provided and his attempt instead to change the subject to the efforts he made to serve the legal papers. While not relevant to our complaint about Cal Legal Pros failure to honor their word, I also included is a copy of an email from his representative in which Cal Legal Pros claimed to know the correct address for service (they didn’t). The addresses we had supplied them were those on file for the company with the California Secretary of State.
In short, Mr. Timm is untruthful and his word can’t be trusted. Clearly his company is incapable of performing as advertised. I hope this follow up is sufficient to bring closure to this matter. Thanks.
Sincerely,
Mark Snyder

Stuart,

On the $138.70, we made six attempts to serve Jadoo.  Four of those attempts were in Folsom (30 minutes away from our location), one in Shingle Springs (50 minutes away), and one in El Dorado (40 minutes from our location).  Those attempts are beyond what we would normally include in a service offering, and the cost to us was well in excess of what we charged.  We will not provide a refund on those services.

On the Jadoo fees, I will look into what services CLP provided on that matter.  It is likely that we performed services.  The payment was made prior to my owning CLP (my ownership began in July), so it is not likely that a refund will come from me on that matter.

We have received the complaint, will look into the status of the divorce paperwork, and will update the client.

Mr. [redacted] was a former client who we completed an eviction for.  We discovered Mr. [redacted] suffers from mental issues which we cannot divulge.  Based on this, Mr. [redacted] has been kicked out of court several times, continuously...

harasses our employees for information about his case which ended months ago and has created an alternate story about how our services were completed other than that which actually happened.  After multiple attempts to get him the information he requested and appease him we had to cut off contact. His statement here is completely false.

Our prior responses speak for themselves.  California Legal Pros provides legal document preparation and filing services to hundreds of clients throughout California.  We are a professional organization who help clients prepare and file legal forms.  We assist with small claims cases, unlawful detainers, and certain family law matters, including uncontested divorce.  Our clients are generally very happy with the services we provide.  Of the hundreds of clients we have worked with throughout California, [redacted] has likely been the most difficult client for a variety of reasons (see our prior responses). In the two cases involving [redacted], we performed the services for which we were paid on one case.  Pursuant to our agreement with [redacted], we do not intend to refund fees paid for those services.  On the other case, we refunded the fees paid to us and finished our engagement.  Mr. [redacted]'s personal attacks reflect his personality and approach to business.  We believe he misuses this Revdex.com forum, but understand the Revdex.com allows this.

Review: California Legal Pros was hired by my landlord to start eviction proceedings against me. By accepting the job, they choose to ignore my legal rights, deny me due process, and deprive me of my home. Eviction is not easy for either side, but when one takes a stressful and emotional situation and exacerbates the circumstances by falsifying court documents these parties must be held accountable. On September 5, 2014 [redacted] acting as an agent of California Legal Pros, knowingly and willfully submitted documents to the Superior Court of California that were false and subsequently used to evict me from my home.Ms. [redacted] swore under penalty of perjury, that the foregoing is true and correct; when she affirmed that she personally served me with a Summons and Complaint on September 3, 2014 at my residence, at 4:34pm, when in fact I was 30 miles away in the presence of at least 500 State employees. What Ms. [redacted] did is criminal in action and morally inexcusable. Her lies circumvented me from offering a defense or time to prepare for a new residence. Her lies led to a default judgment, then writ of possession, and finally eviction. I never knew I was being evicted until the Sheriffs came.California Legal Pros advertise quick evictions, it is quick because the tenant never knows what is going on and using those types of tactics a tenant can be out of a property in two weeks. California Legal Pros and their agent Ms. [redacted] not only cost me my home, several days in last wages, attorney fees, travel cost, and numerous other expenses. California Legal Pros, never once stopped to think of what harm a lie could do to a persons life. Ms. [redacted] and California Legal Pros acted with the intention of deceiving the Superior Court of California, and I will act decisively in exercising all of my rights affordedDesired Settlement: I want to be reimbursed for all my expenses resulting out of their bad business practices and for Ms. [redacted] to acknowledge that she lied.

Review: I paid California Legal Pros to file 2 Separate Small Claims actions in June 2014 in which my company was the plaintiff. They asked me for additional fees to pay for a process server.California Legal Pros had an office in San Diego was to perform the work and took a binder from me with supporting case documents. The office stopped communicating with me and never field the case. I contacted the owner [redacted] and was told the employee quit her job but that he would have the matters transferred to his Sacramento branch. They filed the first case only but were unable to find anyone to serve after they had wasted several weeks due to the disappearance of their San Diego employee and their lack of certainty about how service could be perfected. This company had a power of attorney for me but allowed nearly 3 months to elapse from the time of filing and failed to ask for a continuance within the time allowed by the court. When they realized their mistake they filed the motion after deadline had passed and the case was dismissed for that reason, creating the need for new fees in order to reopen the caseI asked them to refile due to all the time they wasted but they refused to pay the refiling fee and instead offered to refund ALL of my money for that case and for the 2nd case which they never filed at all and they said they would return my binder. I agreed.Instead of returning the binder or all of my money, the owner said the case was not his problem and refused to refund ANY of the money for that case and he has still not returned the binder his employee took from me which he said was in his custodyDesired Settlement: I expect this company to live up to their word and refund the money I paid them to bring the case to trial. They promised a COMPLETE refund as an alternative to my request that they pay to refile the case but they failed to do so. I will accept $262.90 which is the fee I paid them to prepare the documents for the case they botchedI also expect them to return the binder I entrusted to their San Diego employee which belongs to me and is now in the custody of the company owner

California Legal Pros is a document preparation and filing service. [redacted] engaged California Legal Pros to assist [redacted] with preparation of a small claims filing and service of process on a defendant. For this service, [redacted] paid California Legal Pros a fee of $79. In addition, [redacted] provided California Legal Pros with $55 for court filing fees.California Legal Pros prepared the documents and filed the small claims case. [redacted] provided California Legal Pros with an address at which the defendant was to be served. That address was located in Folsom, 30 minutes from the California Legal Pros office in Sacramento. California Legal Pros attempted service at that address, but the address provided by [redacted] was an incorrect address.[redacted] provided California Legal Pros with a second address located in a different city from the first address. That address was located in Shingle Springs, 50 minutes from California Legal Pros office in Sacramento. California Legal Pros attempted service at that location and address. Again, [redacted] had provided California Legal Pros with an incorrect address.[redacted] then provided California Legal Pros with a third address at which to attempt service of the defendant. That location was in yet another city in El Dorado Hills, 40 minutes from the California Legal Pros office in Sacramento. That third address provided by [redacted] was incorrect as well. All of the addresses provided by [redacted] were incorrect addresses. California Legal Pros clearly states in its terms and conditions that we will make three attempts to serve defendants, but that we cannot guarantee a successful serve. (It becomes particularly difficult to serve papers on a defendant when the plaintiff provides an improper address three times in a row!)[redacted] agreed to terms and conditions which clearly state that there are no refunds for services provided. Yet [redacted] now demands a refund for services provided.California Legal Pros went above and beyond by attempting service at three different locations, in cities outside of Sacramento, for a total fee of $79. We are proud of the service that we provide. [redacted] is such a difficult company with which to do business that California Legal Pros actually refunded $274 in a separate matter with [redacted] rather than continue to work with the confused team at [redacted]. (Even in [redacted]’s Revdex.com complaint, they don’t properly reference the amount that was refunded already. Please see the attached invoices in which [redacted] acknowledges the refund.)All files have been returned to [redacted] at the address indicated in the Revdex.com complaint.

Response:

The response from California Legal Pros is irrelevant and misleading. Our claim against them is based on a telephone conversation between Mr. [redacted], myself and my assistant [redacted]an. The call was necessary because Cal Legal Pros had mishandled the court documents in that case causing the case to be dismissed by the Judge. This had nothing to do with the efforts Cal Legal Pros made to serve documentsalthough it should be pointed out that the El Dorado address Mr. [redacted] speaks of was suggested by his own people not by us*. Mr. [redacted]’s rant to you speaks only to his lack of experience running a business and how out of touch he is with the actual operation of that same business he now owns.More to the point at hand however, the three way phone call was necessary to REFILE the case after California Legal Pros failed to respond properly to the court, as they had agreed to do, to request an extension. They finally did so but not until the time allowed by the court had elapsed. We made the call to request that California Legal Pros pay the refiling fee only of $79.00 which would not have been necessary had they not been negligent in ignoring the admonished of the Judge to respond within the time allowed. During this call, Mr. [redacted] became irate and refused to pay the fee but proposed instead that he would REFUND ALL THE MONEY WE HAD PAID HIM FOR TWO CASES, neither one of which had been handled properly by him even though he had several months to do so.We accepted Mr. [redacted]’s offer a complete refund. Instead of providing the COMPLETE REFUND that he had offered. Mr. [redacted] made only a partial refund, for an unrelated case which he had never filed even though he had been fully paid by us in advance. We asked Mr. [redacted] when he would be returning the balance of the money and he said that that case was not his responsibility but the problem of someone else from whom he had purchased the company from. Mr. [redacted] is a very poor business man. Our problems with him started within a few weeks from the time we agreed to pay him for his San Diego office to handle what became this botched case. After a few weeks time, our calls to his San Diego office went unanswered. Unknown to us, his representative there quit abruptly and left our work stranded. There was no follow up by Mr. [redacted] until after we complained to another branch office of his and we were informed of what had happened. This wasted several weeks contributing to the clock running out at the court leading to the dismissal. The case was later assigned to another branch. We had asked also in our complaint that Mr. [redacted] return documents that had been requested from us from his former San Diego representative. He said he would do so but it was only after our complaint to Revdex.com months later that he actually bothered to do so.Mr. [redacted] made a business offer to on the phone to me in the presence of Mr. [redacted]an to refund ALL the money we had paid him in good faith rather than refile the case at issue. California Legal Pros is his company and I don’t care about his personal problems with the former owners. He is free to seek relief from the previous owners but he is now the owner and he took responsibility for the case and asked us to grant him power of attorney to do so, which we did.Mr. [redacted] was the one that first proposed the refund. He is the company owner. Mr. [redacted] made the offer without conditions or arguement. Mr [redacted] said the refund would be for ALL MONEY PAID, not just on one case that hadnt even been filed at that point. We accepted the offer knowing that we would need the money to cover the costs of starting all over again with a new company (costs that would have been avoided if Mr. [redacted] just paid the 79.00 refile fee himself to compensate us for his negligent actions with the court).Mr. [redacted] botched the case (s), mishandled his own employees, provided faulty services, and dishonored his promise to make a full refund.Sincerely, [redacted]

Response:

Our previous response speaks for itself. Given the consistently incorrect information Mr. [redacted] has provided both to California Legal Pros and in his Revdex.com complaint, it's difficult to respond to his claims. Considering both the above-and-beyond service that California Legal Pros provided to [redacted] and the clear terms of our agreement with [redacted] Electric, it's re[redacted]able that Mr. [redacted] still pursues his $79 refund demand through this Revdex.com forum. His personal attacks on California Legal Pros are reflective of his personality and approach to business.Mr. [redacted] is willing to bring false claims in this forum in order to intimidate an honest and dedicated service provider which does not agree to his demands to forfeit fees paid for work performed. It's unfortunate that business people such as Mr. [redacted] can pursue these tactics, but we understand this is how the Revdex.com process works.

Review: I hired California legal pros to assist me in a San Francisco eviction in the beginning part of the (2014) year. First they were charging me fee's without discussing them with me to the credit card they had on file. Then when I was sending e-mails for updates they were going unanswered and I had to call over and over again to get someone to assist me. I had to hire an attorney through California legal pros and I was receiving invoices that was never brought to my attention. When I asked for more details on the invoices I received an invoice that was dramatically higher than what I was told the first time. I was also waiting for over a month for a court date as the people who were occupying the home requested a jury trial and I called almost everyday and I was told by California Legal pro's as well as the attorney's office that they were waiting for the courts to give them a court date. Over a month later California Legal pro's notify me that they never filed a document with the courts for a court date. I requested that they file the document ASAP. They said they did a drop off service and over a week later I look online for an update as I was not able to reach anyone and found out that the document was denied as they put the wrong case # on the filing. I contacted California Legal Pro's right away and sent an e-mail requesting that the owner calls me. I spoke with him the same day and he advised that he will give me a full refund of everything that I paid California Legal pros except the cost they collected for the attorney's fee's. I agreed and he advised he will make sure it was in the mail the same day. A month later still no refund check. I contact them and were advised they will put a check in the mail the same day. I received a $389 check but am owed over $800.00. I contacted them and were told they will pass my issue along. I advised I need to hear back by the end of the business day and I never heard back from California Legal Pro's.Desired Settlement: I will like a Full refund of all fee's including the month worth of mortgage I had to pay for there mistake in the total sum of $2398.02 for fee's paid to California Legal Pro's and $1592.00 for the mortgage paid for the month they delayed the eviction.
