Illegal business practice, fraudulent fees, predatory lenders with false "covid relief"
I purchased a car using this lender in January of 2019. In March or April of 2020, when the pandemic started causing problems, I was offered a two month extension where I would not have to make payments and my account would not be sent in for collections. There were no rules in place about having to use the two month extension at that exact time and so I continued to make my payments on time thinking I was doing the right thing. In January, I got a call from them and was able to reach someone in response who I explained that I just needed the two month extension that they'd already said I could have. In January, I was one month behind and February would have been the second month. I told the person on the phone I could send in my regular monthly payment amount on February 1st, which at that point was about 12 days away. I informed them that I needed to use the extension that they had granted me because I had started having a very difficult time with finances at that point (and I'd still paid them even though I was given the "extension" in March/April. I walked outside to see my car missing in the driveway. It had been repossessed and taken to a yard 45 minutes away. I asked very specifically how much money I needed to pay to get my car back and was told it was $2,132.00. This is what it supposedly added up to when it was considered two months late on a monthly bill of $424. So, I paid them and got my car back...only to just today look at the online account and see that they have now ADDED a $375 "miscellaneous fee assessment" and my "current due" is $892.54. NONE OF THIS EVEN MAKES ANY MATHEMATICAL SENSE. I claimed my car less than 12 hours after they repossessed it and the representative assured me MULTIPLE times that the $2132 was the only amount that needed to be paid. Evidently their "covid relief" was a total lie, and they're using that to effectively tell people they have to pay FOUR months of payments just to catch up in the first place...plus a ton of fees that they won't substantiate or verify.

CRB AUTO/MECHANICS BANK Commiting theft and fraud.
CRB Auto fraudulently repossessed our vehicle. We found help through our state to secure the return of the vehicle. CRB gave the wrong processing and payment information to the washington state agency assisting us. Meanwhile CRB did this to ensure the out of state transfer to oregon where the car had already been transfered in the process of being auctioned off. After we figured out what was happening we contacted CRB and prepared to travel to oregon to retrieve the vehicle. Upon doing so we contacted the fleet where the car was held. We were able to explain the situation and provide the proof of payment that CRB outright tried to pocket and we paid $300 to the fleet to have our car returned. We completed all transactions through CRB per their repossession policy. We have records of ALL transactions with this company. Once the vehicle was back in our possession we made all payments to keep the account in good standing. However, this all occured in march. We are now in june and CRB has not only continue to send us invoices only by mail now with miscellaneous fees totally 1700.00 they refuse to actually send us a break down of these fees. They have had our online account locked since february with no justified reason. They didn't forward our payment to the tow company CRB hired, nor to the car fleet CRB contracted to out of state transfer and auction off our vehicle. All of these payments were included in CRB total amount due to retrieve this vehicle which we paid. We have recordings of CRB manager micheal saying that CRB can do whatever they want. Charge whatever they want. Today We received another invoice for another miscellaneous fee collection. Still cant access our online account. I think their supervisor micheal was correct. It seems like they can do whatever they want. We have no one to help us with this situation. Everything I stated can be verified proofs of ALL payments including washington state agency payments. No payments have been reflected to our account. Our payments have only been accepted not yet processed. We were told as long as the payments haven't been processed we will continue to be charged and we have to pay all charges including late fees. Can this company do this? Are they truly governed by NO ONE? Is there really even such a thing as good or bad business practice? If a person breaches a contract the penalties are harsh but a reputable U.S. banking and loaning institution can create/ falsify statements and commit theft without any consequence? Please say its not so. CRB does NOT act in good faith.

Wow not surprising. Similar thing happened but locally. Read the 2017 SEC report on them and their shady corporate structure which put each company just out of jurisdiction of regulators... There should be a class action for what they have done. Oh and in 2019 if anyones auto pay was discontinued, they were having system glitches. Only 1 representative admitted it to me and I promptly paid the missed payment. Then got busy with life and didn't realize it happened again until they repo'd the car. Doesn't sound like money was the issue in your case either...

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and find that this resolution is in fact true However, while resolved, they made me look bad on my credit because of the way it was corrected I had to defer a payment and the reasoning they put was "financial hardship" It was not a financial hardship on my part at all, rather a mistake make by their company, which they admitted too Regards, [redacted] ***

BEWARE!After a couple of weeks of research and PI work, I figured out the FRAUD sale of my vehicle from a dealership in Arizona. CRB AUTO, AND MECHANICS BANK accounts are being frauduently used in the sale of used vehiclee. The lien holder on my title is listed as Mechanics Bank who is no longer active in that state, and the payment letter has a return address listed as no longer registered to Mechanics Bank.

We are still investigating and composing a response

Dear *** ***,

I am beyond offended by the way a representative of California Republic Bank spoke to meHer name is JACKIEShe called from an unknown number, rattled of CRBauto and in a tone as if she was speaking down to me said, in response to me asking "what this is in regards to", answered, "YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THIS IS IN REGARDS TO"I asked for clarity because I was genuinely confused, she accused me of be a liar; not once but three timesAfter a few minutes of being spoken AT by JACKIE, and feeling harassed and insulted; I asked if I had spoken to anyone with this company before, "YOU SURE HAVE" she said in a degrading tone, "JESSICA!"Finally it clicked, this is in regards to an auto payment and CRB = California Republic Bank (for the record I don't have an account with them, I am put down as a referral), I do recall, because a week ago I did speak to a very polite woman named Jessica, in fact we had several pleasant conversationsIf JACKIE, had simply given me a little respect and didn't try and hide behind an unknown number and mushing up her sentences, than I 100% would have known what company she was calling from and what issue it was regardingSHE CALLED ME A LIARI COULD NOT BE MORE OFFENDEDIf I spoke that way to a client I would be out of a jobIf she were my employee I would show her the door

We regret the fact that Ms*** is unhappy with her customer service We urge Ms*** to recognize that there are policies around granting extension requests We will reach out to Ms*** to explore her options and explain our policies, in hopes of coming to an acceptable
solution.
Thank you

I would like to say, CRB Auto is the worst company to get a car loan from, not only that but they charge very high interestThey call and harass you constantly, even if you send in your payment on timeThey call and harassThey tell you they are going to waive your lates fees due to them mishandling your account, and then they dont waive your feesthis is the worst car auto loan bank I have ever worked with in my lifeI hope they can resolve the late fees, and miscfee they put on my account due to there own mis-handlingI simply want my late fees waived so I can pay off my car and move on with my lifethis all happened with the sold themselves to mechanic bank

I accept the business response to the matter, but would need to know how it was addressed? They could say it has been addressed just to close out the complaintI need to know how this important issue was corrected!

We regret that *** *** was not satisfied with her CRB Auto experience. I would like to direct *** *** attention to the statement prominently listed
on the front of each statement that advises our customers that the amount shown is not a payoff amount. In the event of a payoff, all customers should call to get a day payoff estimate in order to avoid a payoff amount that does not completely cover all outstanding interest amounts. If the account is paid off within that day period, the payoff will be considered to be in full, with any excess interest refunded to the customerThis practice is a credit industry standard, and is in no way meant to be deceptive or an attempt to take advantage of our good customers
