Review: On October 23,2012 I purchased a Brand new 2013 Jeep Wrangler from Folsom Chrysler Dodge and Jeep Dealership at the time I added the factory Mopar 2 inch lift and the unlimited lifetime warranty for as long as I own the vehicle I was told by the Folsom Chrysler Dealership that the only way I could have the lift done without voiding the warranty was to have it done by Chrysler with Chrysler parts. So, I made a appointment with Folsom Chrysler to have the lift installed. They installed the lift shortly after the purchase date. After Folsom Chrysler installed the lift I started to have problems with my brakes. The way they installed the lift was causing my brake lines to rub against the tires wearing through the brake lines making my vehicle a safety hazard not only to myself and my family but also a public safety hazard. Since I purchased the vehicle I have had to take my Jeep into Chrysler 3 times over the same issue and they are declining responsibility for the problem they caused by improperly installing their lift.Desired Settlement: A new Jeep Wrangler With the lift installed by the factory and my unlimited lifetime warranty honored. I am still paying for the warranty through the loan and I feel that because they are the ones responsible for the problem that occurred they should be held responsible for it.

Review: Complaint filed with BAR:

My "check engine light" came on in my 2008 Chrysler Aspen and I took to Folsom Chrysler for repair. The replaced the ESIM and ESIM gasket and replaced the gas cap. I paid $336.38 for this repair. On January 25, 2014, the "check engine light" came on. Thinking it could not possibly be the repair done at the dealership, since they are experts (Folsom Chrysler Dodge Jeep), so I took it to the nearby Jiffy Lube on the same date, 10796 Olson Drive, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670 ###-###-####. I authorized a dollar amount for Jiffy Lube to fix the problem. When I arrived to pay the repair, they told me that the ESIM module was "mis-oriented" & rotated counted clockwise connector @ 3 o'clock position. I paid Jiffy Lube $200 for this repair. Folsom Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dealership made the repair incorrectly. I spoke to Service Advisor ([redacted]) and the Service Manager ([redacted] ###-###-####) on several occasions to seek compensation for the Jiffy Lube $200 repair. [redacted] told me he contacted you RE: my issue - a bold face lie. They refused my request, therefore this complaint filed.Desired Settlement: Compensation for the Jiffy Lube $200 repair.

This complaint has already been settled, a check for $200.00 was sent to Mr. [redacted] on March 14, 2014, as reimbursement for the work he had performed at Jiffy Lube. It should be noted that all our repair work is warranted and if Mr. [redacted] had returned to the dealership when he first encountered the problem we would have repaired the vehicle at no charge to him, if it was caused by our previous repair.

[redacted] was in the Folsom Chrysler Jeep Dodge stating that the alignment of the vehicle was off. We told her it needed to be maintained since she put 50,000 miles on the car in one (1) year. Consequently, we went ahead and did the alignment on the vehicle for her. Upon delivering the vehicle back to her, she was not satisfied because she wanted Chevy to do the alignment (even though we already did it), so we had Chevy do an alignment too. We offered to trade her out of the car and remove her mother - we got her approved for another one, but she would not agree to the new payments. We are of the opinion that we went above and beyond for this customer, but no matter what we did, we couldn't seem to satisfy her. We strive for professional and customer satisfaction here at Folsom CJD.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if any additional information is needed.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Dealership said the road test was unable to verify the concern. They used drb111 check codes in bcm, none related to issue, bcm requires no updates, visual inspection found battery cables loose, cleaned and secure cables.I also mentioned to the dealership that when the a/c is turned off or on, the light flickering will stop but overhead lights inside will start flickering. Pick also reported that with a/c on vehicle shut down have to wait for about 10 minutes and then will start back up when try to start no crank happens. Recommend coolant pressure test. Pressure tested cooling system and found radiation leaking. Recommend radiator replacement @ $534 ($219.99 parts, $285 labor, $29.99 coolant). While driving to church on Sunday December 29, 2013 my car interior lights started flickering again and there was a loud clank, clunk and knocking noise (whichever ere the exact indications I noticed back in September 2012 when I took the car to the dealership). The car immediately started decreasing in speed and I couldn't accelerate on the gas pedal and the steering wheel immediately locked. I had to pull off the off ramp and let my car sit for an hour. I had to have my car towed back home due to the car not starting and ignition not turning over. This occurred all at approximately 103,300 miles. The car no longer would start so I had a mobile mechanic diagnose the vehicle. As of today and after 11 days of diagnostic and investigation, the mechanic found that the radiator, starter, thermostat, timing belt, spark plugs and igniters, heating coil needed to be replaced. Also a tune up and oil change was needed. Upon changing the oil, the mechanic found chunks of engine sediments and actual broken engine parts inside the oil compartment. The mechanic recommended replacing the entire engine or purchasing another vehicle as the repairs would get quite costly.I have made 16 payments at $377.24 for a total of $6035.84. However my finance company A & L Financial says as of December 2013 I owe $7000 remaining on my loan. This car us not worth replacing the engine. I have recently filed bankruptcy in February 2013 which discharged in April 2013. As a result I am in credit counseling. However, I will not pay another car note monthly premium and willingly will voluntary surrender the car as a voluntary repossession. But I don't think this should not be reported or counted against my credit and I think the California Superstores should reimburse me the $1000 down payment I put on the car during the initial purchase.Desired Settlement: $1000 for the initial down payment I placed on the initial purchase of the vehicle. I would also like the surrendering of the vehicle not to be reported on or against my credit, financial status or to the 3 credit bureaus.

Response:

This email is in response to the complaint filed with the Revdex.com against California Superstores Folsom Chrysler Jeep Dodge, by Mr. Remillo [redacted], regarding a 2006 Chrysler Town & Country, VIN: [redacted].

Mr. [redacted] purchased this vehicle on September 27, 2012, with a mileage reading of 75,381 miles; the vehicle was purchased “AS IS.” On October 3, 2012, with a mileage reading of 75,742, Mr. [redacted] brought the vehicle into the service department of California Superstores Folsom CJD, stating that all lights on the dashboard were flashing and that there was a buzz noise from the dash. Also, the overhead lights flickered inside the vehicle when the A/C was turned off or on. It was determined that the battery cables were loose, they were cleaned and secured, this was done at no cost to Mr. [redacted]. The vehicle was returned to Mr. [redacted] on October 4, 2012, with a mileage reading of 75,770. Since that date the vehicle has not been returned the dealership for any type of service work. According to Mr. [redacted] the vehicle as of December 29, 2013, has approximately 103,300 miles on it which means that the vehicle has been driven 27, 530 miles since October 4, 2012.

According to our Service Manager, the Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Automotive Repair conducted an inquiry into Mr. [redacted]’s complaint’s regarding this vehicle and found that California Superstores Folsom Chrysler Jeep Dodge did not commit any violations nor have any liability with regards to this vehicle.

At the time of sale Mr. [redacted] signed a Federal “Used Vehicle Buyers Guide” showing that the vehicle was sold “AS IS.” When a vehicle is sold “AS IS” it means that the selling “dealer assumes no responsibility for any repairs regardless of any oral statements about the vehicle:” that the Buyer will pay all costs for any repairs.

We are sorry that Mr. [redacted] is having problems with the vehicle, however, we are unable to agree to his request to return his $1,000.00 down payment. Regarding his surrendering the vehicle as a “voluntary repossession” that will need to be discussed with the legal owner of the vehicle A&L Financial.

Review: Our 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland with 15,000 miles had a catastrophic engine failure. The Folsom Jeep Dealership stated that the engine had a faulty head casting which caused the valve train to break, scoring the cylinders, and they found metal in the oil pan. They stated it needed a new engine and we authorized the repair. They stated the repair would take several weeks or longer just to locate a complete engine. They called us the next week telling us to pick up the Jeep as it was finished. The dealership chose to order parts instead of replacing the engine. They replaced the block and the cylinder head that failed. The other cylinder head was reused, despite having been run with metal in the oil. We expressed our concern that they did not fully repair the damage, to which they responded the repairs were done per Chrysler's standards. I find it very hard to believe that Chrysler would put damaged parts back on an engine after a catastrophic failure and try to pawn it off on a customer. In short, they told us they would replace the engine and did not, instead reusing damaged parts.

Product_Or_Service: Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Replacement

We expect Chrysler to live up to the warranty and do as they stated they would; replace the engine. Or replace the damaged parts so that no damaged part from the original engine is reused. We would expect an extended warranty on the engine as it is no longer a unit from the factory and we have little confidence in the repairs as they used damaged parts to reassemble it. Alternatively, the dealership can buy back the damaged Jeep for what is owed and we will buy a new one.

Initial Business Response

We are sorry about the problems encountered by Mr. [redacted] relative to his 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Mr. [redacted] brought the vehicle in on October 9, 2013 with a check engine light on and a tapping noise in the engine. We torn down the engine and found that the right cylinder head rocker mounting tower was broken. We notified Chrysler manufacturer of the situation and they approved the following repair, new engine block, right side cylinder head, new set of lifters, and new oil pan. This repair was completed and Mr. [redacted] picked up the vehicle on November 15, 2013. These repairs were authorized and completed under the Chrysler Manufacturer warranty. It is our understanding that Chrysler has offered Mr.[redacted] Extended Warranty coverage on the vehicle. If Mr. [redacted] has any further problems with the vehicle we would be more than happy to assist him in any way we can.
