The customer’s wife not the customer came in upset insisting she was paid the wrong price and demanded that I give her money backI ask her to explain what the problem was, she stated that she had brought in some cast iron parts and was paid as tinI asked her to let me
look at her ticket and I went and asked the shop employee if he remembered what her husband had brought inThe shop employee confirmed that her husband brought in cast iron parts and cast iron is paid as TINI explained to the wife as the husband sat in his car, that we could not show her the parts due to the fact that it was already in the foot pile of tin we have in the backIt would be like looking for a needle in a hay stack She continued to be very demanding and rude stating that we were cheating her and she was going to call the policeI told her that was her choice and to please leaveShe asked to speak to someone else and I told her I was the manager and the only other thing she could do was call the scale complaint numberI pointed the number on the wall and advised her to call if she was unhappy with the serviceShe continued with her insults and I asked her to leave once again and I walked away to my deskShe and her husband waited outside for the police to arriveWhen they told their side the officer came in and I told him what had occurredHe asked if I could give her a refund and I told him that her material was already in the pileI also explained to him that this was not the first time the customer and I had a disagreementMonths back the customer was asked not to come back to our place of business due to his abusive language towards meBut I took his material this time thinking everyone has their bad days and he would act rightWell I was wrong! But this time it was the wife not the customerSo I asked the officer to tell the customer and his wife that they were not welcome to sell here anymoreHe walked outside and explained to the wife that there was nothing he could do.
As far as us having proof of the material brought in, the customer was given a copy of the ticket showing what type of material he soldHe brought the ticket from the shop to the cashier window if he was not happy on how it was bought he had ample time to dispute itHe handed me the ticket and didn’t say a wordIt was about 10-minutes after they left that they came back asking for her material back
I don’t feel I have done anything wrong, in fact I feel I over paid the customerWe normally pay half of our tin price if the material is all cast ironI should have paid him half of the total, but I didn’t thinking I could give them a better price for such a small amount of material to help him outI feel I should get an apology and we should move on with our lives
