Cash Today Pawn

The sales person told me a ring was being resized however the sales person never sent the ring off and refused to give a refund.On March 14, 2015 may husband and I entered Cash Today Pawn hoping to purchase a wedding ring. We purchased a size 8 ring for $300.00 cash. The salesman [redacted] told us that the ring could be resized and would be ready for pick up the following week. My husband called to get a status on the ring and was told the ring was not ready yet. He waited 2 more days and stopped by while he was in [redacted]. He was told that the ring still was not ready. My husband asked for a refund. [redacted] told my husband that he would have to contact the owner. [redacted] then claimed to be calling the owner who he said was on the river that morning (9 days past the date of purchase). Meanwhile my husband (who was upset at this point) stepped outside and called me. [redacted] came outside and I asked to speak with him. He told me that the owner was on the river at that moment, but would be back at noon and for us to come back then. I explained to Donnie that we do not live in [redacted] and can't keep making trips there if the ring wasn't ready. [redacted] was very unprofessional on the phone and I expressed to him that I felt as though we were being giving a run around and scammed out of our money. He ended up handing my husband the phone before finishing speaking with me because I stated that my cousin is an attorney and I would speak with her if I needed to. He then proceeded to be rude to my husband and eventually gave my husband the ring. My husband left. I called [redacted] from work and asked him to contact the owner and he said that he could not. This was literally minutes after he claimed to have been on the phone with him. I asked him to give me the owner's name and he said it was [redacted]. I asked him to tell the owner to call me and left him with my number and I never received any word back from the owner. After this whole ordeal I wanted my money back instead of being stuck with a ring that I cannot fit or having to pay to have it resized when I was told that it would be resized and cleaned all for the $300.00 I purchased it for. I gave it until 3/31/15 when I was told that the owner would be in on Wednesday of last week. I feel that the company is deceitful and [redacted] is bogus. Desired SettlementI want the ring cleaned and resized as I was told or I want a refund. Business Response The sales person sold the ring to the people for a low ball deal. The ring apparently didn't fit The sales person explained to them Cash Today Pawn did not size rings , but had an outside source that we could give the ring to and have sized at a low ball deal also. Unfortunately ,the outside source works for a corporation full time and does jewelry work for moonlighting. Therefore we have no control when he is out of town for a week. The sizing work is never included in a sales price as it is impossible to know the price the outside source will charge. Each piece entails different labor. The customer expressed they did not want to have to pay retail somewhere else, so they decided to leave the ring to be sent out for sizing. The jeweler went out of town and was not able to pick up their ring. Cash Today Pawn has never had a policy to refund jewelry purchases in their 24 year history. We would go broke selling jewelry to customers on Friday, and them going home over the weekend smoking to much [redacted] and coming back Monday needing a refund. In addition to owning Cash Today Pawn , I am also a real estate investor with several properties, as well as two additional new construction projects under way now. These properties under construction are on the Tennessee river an hour away , and on the Hatchie river the opposite direction an hour away. I have virtually no cell signal at either property, and this is a well established fact. The customer was threatening the sales person with her Aunt who was an attorney, therefore trying to hold him hostage. There are many places to have a ring sized. I instructed the sales person to give the customer the ring, as it was paid in full, and that is the only way a ring can be sent out for sizing as the sizing charge is separate. I appreciate the opportunity to clarify the matter . Unfortunately we no longer want to help or do business with [redacted] and her husband. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)For one myself or my husband never used any type of drug and don't appreciate the statement about [redacted] being made. I never said that you did not have business outside of town however [redacted] stated that he was on the phone with you one minute and the next minute claimed he couldn't contact you. He did not tell us that the ring would be resized for an additional price. He stated that the ring would be resized and cleaned for the $300 that we paid for the ring. [redacted] additionally told us that the ring had been sent out already and we were expecting it back. If what you are saying is true then he could have just told us that from the beginning instead of putting a date on when the ring would be done so we would be expecting it to be done. Also I felt as though we were being deceived by the salesman, who kept lying to us as evidenced by your response which is why I said I was about to call my COUSIN who is a lawyer. Who by the way instructed me to wait on your call that I never received. And when I made that statement I was on the phone with [redacted]. I clearly did not hold him hostage as he gave the phone back to my husband. We never stated that we did not want to pay retail price anywhere else. Your shop was recommended to us both. Neither of us had any business with a pawn shop before this incident and it is safe to say that we never will again. I walked into you shop with 1500.00 cash in my pocket. If I wanted to go elsewhere I could have however I actually liked the ring. You never talked to me to see what the problem was at all. I guess that means you took [redacted]'s word for it. If he is lying to your customers, he is lying to you too.
