Review: C & C Wreckers Inc. towed my car from AutoZone store[redacted].

I was a customer at AutoZone, went across the street to get a coffee, came back to find my car towed. C & C Wreckers is fishing for people who can be targeted for a quick profit. I have been a customer at AutoZone for years and have never had a problem. C & C is over stepping their contract to take care of the AutoZone store parking lot.Desired Settlement: Refund of 136$ plus 3$ ATM fee and 10$ car service fee.

Review: This company towed my car without my permission or appropriate authority and then extorted cash from me to return the car. They are in the practice of having people that watch for you to leave your car and then towing it as soon as you are away from the car. Once they have your car they extort money for its return. I contacted the police but the company rep refused to wait to speak with them and threatened to take my car if I did not pay the cash immediately. My car was damaged during this theft and the company would not answer my calls when I tried to complain.Desired Settlement: I want a refund of the extorted money and reparations for the repair of my car.

Review: On 3/**/14 at approximately 1200hrs, I parked my vehicle, illegaly in the parking lot of Advanced Auto Parts, located at [redacted], to go into the M & T Bank, located at [redacted], across the street. I made a transaction at 1205 hrs, and exited the bank to see that vehicle was no later in the spot that I had parked. As I walked across the strreet, I observe my vehicle, in the process of being towed on the tow lift IN FRONT OF [redacted]. I speak to the tow operator #[redacted], who was on his way into the store, to inform him that this was my vehicle, NY Reg. [redacted]. He stated to me that the car was already on the lift, and I asked him how much, he STATED TO ME THAT IT WOULD COST, $217.00 dollars and if it towed to the yard and additional $62.50. I told him I had to go back to the bank and processed to go back across the street and made the next transaction at 1209 hrs. As I left the bank, he proceeded to unlift my vehicle of the lift onto [redacted]. I gave the tow operator $220.00, (10) twenty, and 2 ten dollar bills. He stated he did not have change, and gave me back a $5.00 dollar bill. I asked for the receipt, this operator falsified the receipt, not only in the total amount of the bill, also location vehicle was towed to. On the bill, he wrote total $200.00, (and pocketed the other $15.00 I gave him, but wrote vehicle was towed from yard back to Advanced Auto Parts. My vehicle was never towed to the yard. After taking care of some business, I later came back to the location to speak to [redacted] of Advance Auto Parts. On the wall of the building, the sign clearly states REMOVAL FEE $125.00 + tax, DROF OFF FEE $62.50 +TAX. STORAGE FEE $15.00. I spoke to [redacted], of Advanced Auto Parts, on 3/**/14 @ approximately 1000hrs , and he confirmed the removal fee was only $125.00. The DROP OFF FEE of $62.50, was if the vehicle WAS TOWED TO THE YARD WHICH IT WAS NOT. I tried to contact [redacted] at C&C, on two occasions and he was unavailable.Desired Settlement: Not only do I want the amount of money refunded to me $79.07, but the compamy given a fine.. How many other people have they intentionally commited larceny against. I have copy fo the receipt #**, also DCA #[redacted], copies of my bank transaction times.

Review: My rental truck was towed from Auto Zone. Granted, I was not shopping in Auto Zone so I was willing to pay the tow fee but when I went to the lot they wouldn't let me get the truck out with out giving them $700 in cash. The Department of Consumer Affairs regulates the industry and by law they are not allowed to charge more than $140. They were [redacted], intimidating, and completely unbudging. These guys are crooks. I had to negotiate a lower price to get the truck out or else I would have lost a $23000 contra huge contract to deliver what was in the back of the truck.Desired Settlement: Pay the the balance of what I had to fork out minus the initial towing fee of $140.

Review: My car was parked in the Duane Reade parking lot at [redacted]35 on the [redacted] of March, 2013 for less than 15 minutes. I went one block to exchange foreign currency to use it at Duane Reade. I did not have any USD currency on me. I do understand that if I leave the store I can automatically get towed. From the money exchange I returned to Duane Reade and a man who did not present himself as a tower alerted me that my car was hooked up to the tow truck. He was standing on the steps of Duane Reade blocking the entrance. The tow truck towed my car to the front of the post office. The driver told me that I had to pay him $200 in order to get my car back. If I did not I would have to pay $200 + $17 tax. This was a very vulnerable and scary position, I paid them the $200. The next day I returned to the parking lot and saw that I was supposed to be charged $125 + tax by law, not $200 + tax. This towing company stole from me. Also they failed to present me with a receipt. Description of Men The driver was a man with honey brown contacts in his eyes . Both men wore black baseball caps.Desired Settlement: I was over charged. My entire $200 should be returned because this was a criminal act. I do understand that I should not have walked away from the store, therefore the $75 which was robbed from me would be a justifiable refund.

Review: On March **, 2013 at approximately 5:00pm I parked in a Duane Reade parking lot on [redacted] in Sunnyside, Queens. Before entering Duane Reade to make purchases, I brought other belongings from my car into the adjacent building. The sign in the parking lot allows up to 20 minutes for customers to park. I was back to my car within 3 minutes when my husband saw my car on the C & C tow truck. The driver had been parked on 48th street waiting to put any car on his truck. He did so immediately after I was out of view, considering that in the three minutes my car was parked, it was put on the truck and the driver had driven about 50 feet from the parking space. I asked that he put the car down. He refused and said it would be a $136 fee to release the car. He did not give me an explanation of why there was a $136 charge or a receipt for the money we paid. The most disturbing part of the experience was the inexcusable behavior of the truck driver. After my husband expressed his anger and frustration with the situation, the truck driver proceeded to threaten my husband, saying,"IF YOU KEEP TALKING, I WILL KILL YOU." To top it all off, when my husband and I arrived at Best Buy ([redacted].) approximately 20 minutes later, we happened to see the tow truck in the parking lot. Before entering the store, we witnessed the truck driver walk out with items, including a sub woofer, that he installed in his tow truck while in the parking lot. I sent a letter requesting a response and resolution that never came. I called the company and spoke with a manager. He told me the company does not set the price and as soon as I walked in the opposite direction of the Duane Reade, I was illegally parked. When I explained that the truck driver threatened my husband, he said there was NOTHING HE COULD DO! He said the truck driver may say otherwise. When I asked for documentation of pricing, a receipt, company documentation of the car removal and proof that the money was processed through the company (rather than being used as personal money by the truck driver), the manager REFUSED.Desired Settlement: I'd like an apology for the threat and lack of interest and responsibility of the company. I'd also like the documentation to be sent to me, including, documentation of pricing, a receipt, company documentation of the car removal, and documentation that $136 was processed through the company.

Review: On September [redacted], 2013 I left work to have lunch at the local McDonald's at [redacted] in Brooklyn NY. My car was parked at the McDonald's parking lott and I went inside to order my food. I ordered my food and sat inside the McDonald's restaurant to eat. I was done in 15min and left to go to work. When I stepped to the parking lott my car was gone. The employee at the McDonald's informed me that the car was towed. I spoke to the manager inside McDonald's and he was very rude and obnoxious and informed me that they are not responsible for towed vehicles. Not sure how, when I was inside their lott and I was at their restaurant. I never left the premises. I called the number on the tow-away sign hung up at McDonald's. The representative informed that they had my vehicle and it would cost me $210 to get my car back. The rep also said that if I wasn't there by 5pm to get my vehicle I would be charged an overnight fee. My car was towed to [redacted] in Brooklyn NY. I called my son-in-law and he drove me to where my car was towed. I arrived at the location by 3pm. My car was locked inside someone's private Lott and there was no business sign posted, no person working and no sign of life. The location was abandoned. I called the number ###-###-#### and the man that answered told me he would be there in 10min to give me my car. I waited an hour. After an hour I called again, and the phone just rang, I called again, and the same man picked up and told me he would be there in ten minutes. After another twenty minutes, I called again and no one answered. I then called the police. I explained to the officers my car was stolen and the person in charge here does not want to give me my property. The police knew the business well for this was not their first rodeo with C&C Wreckers. They told me if someone does not arrive by 5pm they would come back to assist. At 4:58pm a man pulled up in a motorcycle and told me "HE WAS CLOSED". I was extremely furious at this point. I explained to him that I have been calling since 3pm and he is purposely trying to keep my property. I asked the man his name and he refused to give it to me. He then said his name was [redacted], which I know was fake. My son-in-law disputed with me and after 10 more minutes of arguing the man asked me if I had cash. I said yes, he then said it will cost $215, the original price was $210. I was so furious I handed the man $220 cash and asked for change. He didn't want to give me my change nor a receipt. After another 5 minutes I explained to the man that his business is unprofessional, unethical, and his guys had no right to tow my car in the first place because I was at the location of the business parking Lott. "[redacted]" finally gave me my change along with my vehicle. I was completely taken advantage of and this company robbed me out of money I barely have.Desired Settlement: I want this business to refund me along with an apology. I also want them investigated. I believe their business is illegal and it's taking advantage of the good people in NYC.
