Fire goes out constantly when plenty of wood in it
I originally had a old model CL5036 that I never had any issues with. I was reading about how effecient the new models were and how they burned less wood. When I had the contractor come to service my boiler this fall I talked to him about the new models and wound up buying an HDX 560. The new model was installed in November of 2022. It's now January and I absolutely hate this boiler. The fire goes out constantly. I've read all teh articles and watched all the videos. First I think there is more maintenance with cleaning on the new model, but I've done it regularly. The fire goes out on an average of once a week. Again, last night I came home and the fire was going good and there was a good bed of coals. I cleaned around the air tubes and cleaned out the reaction chamber is suggested, situated the wood still in the stove and then stacked more wood on top. It got to 24 last night and I wake up this morning with no head. The boiler fire had gone out again even though 3/4 full of seasoned oak and some popular. This happens all the time. It's such a pain to have to keep restarting the fire. I notified Central boiler 3 times now, as well as the contractor, and have received no help or suggestions. I just wound up turning it off and turning the regular heat on. I've reached my limit with this boiler. I WISH I would have kept my old model. I really want the old boiler back or my money back, what a waste of 20k. Worst purchase I have EVER made. I plan to do a write up with the BBB this evening.

New Units Unreliable
It’s December if 2022.
I’ve lived in my house since December of 2011. The previous owner had a central boiler unit installed in April of 2006. I loved the old unit. The only time I had issues is when I accidentally let the wood burn down. It burned a lot of wood but I still loved it. Now it’s 2022. My maintenance person, who is also the installer told me how much more efficient and less wood the new units were. My old unit was 16 years old now so decided to bite the bullet and get a new Central Boiler unit. I’ve had the new unit for 2 1/2 months now.

First, the fire on the new unit is constantly going out. My wood is all at least 1 year seasoned. It’s mostly oak but some poplar also. The unit has never ran out of wood, I keep the reaction chamber clean, and I clean around the air tube, yet the fire keeps going out. When the unit is burning, it seems to burn as much wood as the old unit, but the issue to me is the fire constantly going out. The fire on this unit is sucked down instead of burning up, so makes since to me the unit would have issues with the fire burning out.

I talked to the installer at first, he kept telling me it was my issue and I needed to learn what my unit wanted. I played all around with the settings… the temp deferential and the pause cycle. I made it better but nothing really works well.

I contacted Central Boiler twice but they just email the installer and ask him to contact me. Both times the installer just relied to them… “I don’t know what he’s doing”. Yet he has not come to look at anything and no more response from Central Boiler.

Only 2 months old and I hate my new unit and so wish I would have just kept my old unit. So disappointing and wish I could get my old unit back.

Don’t by from Gary Milward in Lone Bute BC Canada
No set up support. Gary overcharged us 600 dollars by “accident “ still haven’t been repayed. We have a heater fan fail as well 1 month after install.
There are way better boilers out there. Do your homework. These units are not the best answer

Do not deal with Gary Milward
We bought a Classic Edge from Gary Milward in Lone Bute BC Canada . He overcharged us $600.00 and promised to reimburse us for a brand new motor that failed . Months go by and several phone calls and txt messages we placed regarding the overpayment. Gary promised to mail a check. Weeks go by , no check….
Still waiting for it.
Our experience with Central Boilers has been terrible. I would strongly recommend going elsewhere for your boiler.

Poor warranty
