I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint [redacted] and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.

Mr [redacted] brought us his high mileage charger that had been diagnosed by another mechanic. We verified that there was a coolant leak coming from the general area of the rear freeze plugs and was given the go ahead to replace the corroded plug. With the plug needing the transmission to be dropped, it...

required a tremendous amount of labor to access the corroded plug. Upon dropping the transmission, we found TWO corroded plugs (the other we fixed at NO charge), and in addition, noticed coolant coming from the by pass drain underneath the intake which only contains coolant when the water pump weephole has worn through, signaling a worn out and leaking water pump. We stopped the work, and called Mr [redacted] and informed him that the water pump was leaking, and he advised us that he did not want to spend any more money on a vehicle that he wanted to trade in. We again told him that if we put the car back together without fixing the water pump, the vehicle will continue to leak. We also informed him that the water pump was run by the timing chain, and that would entail opening up the front timing cover, and disassembling the timing chains to remove. Again, Mr [redacted] refused to approve or cover the additional repair. As a result, the vehicle was put back together with only the two new freeze plugs, and the vehicle was made ready for pick up with the leaking water pump. It should also be noted, the vehicle was dropped off in a general state of disrepair, with many skipped scheduled maintenance items, to include transmission services (The vehicle's transmission was not shifting correctly prior to repair and had dark and burned fluid), rear differential services ( The rear differential was starting to makes noise), oil changes appeared to not be done as scheduled on the account of blackened motor oil and low oil levels ( we topped off the engine oil with three quarts of oil at not charge to ensure the engine would not sieze on our property. The system capacity is about 5 quarts of oil.) As a result, we will not be covering Mr [redacted]'s water pump because quite frankly, we are not at fault for his water pump leaking.
