Review: We leased a horse from CK Sport Horse Sales, Inc. and its principal, [redacted]. Prior to leasing the horse (named [redacted]), we suggested that we would like to have the horse vet checked. Mr. [redacted] pressured us into avoiding the vet check saying that he had someone else that wanted to look at the horse.Immeditately upon receiving the horse back in our home stable ([redacted] in [redacted], **), we discovered that the horse was lame. Our vet confirmed the lameness. Consequently, we have had the horse checked out with an MRI. The MRI showed that the horse had a pre-condition of bone problems in his leg that could not have happened on the trip from VA to MO. Our conclusion is that CK Sport Horse Sales leased us a damaged horse and should provide us with the refund of $25,000 (the lease price). Experts in the field say that there is a possibility that the horse may have been drugged when we saw him in VA, as there is no other way the horse could have performed with his condition. The principal of CK Sport Horse Sales ([redacted]) has repeatedly denied our requests for a refund. His best offer was a refund of $3,000 which is woefully short of the money we have spent on the horse and have received no value. We have the MRI evidence that can show the horse has a long-standing condition and should not have been up for sale or lease.Desired Settlement: This affair has cost us more than $25,000, including shipping the horse from VA to MO and back (total about $1,900), and 3 months board @650 each. In addition, the cost for shipping, housing and MRI amounted to nearly $5,000. Total settlement to make us whole would be around $33,850.We are willing to entertain settlement offers from Mr. Keenum but they have to start with at least $25,000. We are willing to remove this complaint and sign any further non-disparagement clauses.
