Review: I hired Clearfield Electric to update the electrical wiring in my house in Feb. 2012.The owner stated he could not give me a regular estimate because I had some new wiring and some old knob and tube wiring in the house and they would not be able to tell where the new and old were until they got into the wiring.I was fine with that explanation.That being said he gave me a verbal estimate based on the age of my house and his experience of less than $5000.00.I wanted new thermostats installed and also wanted internet and cable added to 2-3 rooms and some parts of my attic wired if time and money allowed.I was given a start date and made a deposit.They did not keep me informed of progress or fees and I called several times.I asked the owner to come to the house to check the progress and work because it seemed like nothing was getting done, he never did.They did not have to replace the breaker box or any of the breakers.I told them not to worry about end of day clean-up because I was paying a lot of money and I wanted as much electrical work done as possible, so I would clean up myself. hey installed 1 ceiling fan, an outdoor light and three new light fixtures.This cost me over $7900.00.I had to call to request fees, then the owner's girlfriend e-mailed me with incorrect information. After several weeks,with little progress,I finally had to tell them to tie things up and leave because when the owner got back to me with an explanation of fees I knew I was way over budget. Since then I have asked for them to fix several problems that took me almost a year to get them to come back,I had to get another company to repair work they refused to,and the utilities company had to be called for a problem and they let me know the electricians never checked the meter box and it's a problem. My lights dim if I dry my hair, my dryer doesn't dry right and I already paid out $7900.00 for a terrible, incomplete job and still live in a fire hazard.Desired Settlement: I would at least like a partial refund so I can have the work finished. The electricians who came for an emergency to fix a faulty issue left by Clearfield Electric said the payment was very high for the work that was accomplished. I can't afford to have any more work done because of the amount I paid for the little work I already had done. I asked the owner for a discount and he refused and also refused to come in person and see the mess that was left by his crew.
