Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 15, 2015/12/23) */
Mr. [redacted] is misrepresenting the facts.
The job does not look great, it looks amateurish. By his own verbal statements made to us, and the statements of the people he had doing the work, it was not done according to the contract. Currently there are two places on our home (the top of the chimney and some exposed wood at the end of fascia boards one cannot see from the ground, that were not painted at all. The house was supposed to get three coats, (one primer and two finish coats). Other than places where he had to return to correct misapplication of trim colors and other errors, they only put one finish coat on the house. They did not properly prepare all surfaces, keep a clean work area, mask all appropriate fixtures, or otherwise do professional grade work (one of our doors is still the wrong color). Contrary to the contract specifications, they did not get authorization or provide the cost of the dry-rot repair prior to doing it.
We did not give his employee an empty envelope, we gave him a check (no envelope). When we were informed that they had lost the check and that they had fired the guy who we gave the check to, we sent them a replacement payment minus the $25 stop payment fee the bank charged us.
After his use of profanity and aggressive attitude we were anxious for him to be off our property, When he refused to provide an explanation of why he was charging so much for dry-rot repair we did not authorize he sent a threatening E-mail demanding payment. That resulted in our reporting it to the Oakland Police (no the sheriffs) who advised us to reply to his E-mail and tell him to not take any other threatening actions, call 911 if he comes to our property, and seek a restraining order should he make any other threats. He was also threatening to place a mechanics lien on our home if we did not pay his demand for the unauthorized dry-rot work. We decided to pay him to keep him off our property to avoid having to go through fighting a mechanics lien, and then we re-pined all our locks to help insure he could not get in our home after having access to our keys. We're now perusing any legal recourse we have to resolve issues at a safe distance.
He charged us $2400 (the difference between a 2 year and 7 year warranty) for a warranty and price freeze we can now never use because of his multiple breaches of his own contract, bad work, and his threatening actions. What we are demanding in this case is a refund for the $2400 we spent on a useless warranty.
Link to some images showing bad workmanship, things painted that should have been masked off and protected, a back door that is field color instead of accent color, drips and sags from to much paint being applied at one time, lap marks where only one finish coat was applied, unpainted wood and chimney top. I'm sure a competent expert would find other flaws.

He paid 700!!!!! For the warrenty . I will give him back 700! If I don't have to hear from [redacted] again!! I have 325 great reviews online, I have painted a lot of homes and this is the first person that has caused problems and lies!!! There's no way you paid 2,500 for a warrenty!!!!!! I tryed to talked to him but he does not understand .
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 20, 2015/12/30) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The contract clearly states that he offers three levels of warranty:
"Option 1: 2 Year standard Warranty" $4800
"Option 2: 5 Year Premium Warranty" $6800
"Option 3: 7 Year Colorblast All Weather Protection system Premium Warranty" $7200
We choose option 3. They did not paint the house in the manor described in option 3 (three coats of paint, one primer and two finish) but charged us for that. Simple subtraction is $7200 - $4800 = $2400.
Futhermore, when threatening to put a lien on our home to collect $750 for unauthorized dryrot work he wrote at the bottom of an invoice:
"Final warning send me my payment [redacted] !!!!
Next I put a lien on your home and VOID YOUR WARRANTY. Which you paid more than $750.00."
His one paperwork shows that he is misrepresenting the facts in an attempt to avoid responsibility for his employees absymal work and his own unprofessional behavior.
We currently have two issues between us. He has charged us $2400 for a warranty and price freeze we can never use, and the work on our house is sub-par and needs to be corrected by someone else. We are seeking the Revdex.com's aid in the first issue and the State Contractors Licencing Board's aid in the second.
The warranty issue will be resolved when Colorblast Painting sends us a check for $2400 and it clears its deposit. I am truly hoping that mediation will be sufficient to resolve this.

The contract clearly states that he offers three levels of warranty:
