I filed my taxes with Paul in February and still haven't got them as of April 30, 2020. When I checked the IRS website, it told me to contact my tax preparer, so I did. When I called he was very defensive. I pointed out that on some pages he accidentally got my address wrong, and he proceeded to blame me for this mistake he made. The entire time he was yelling at me even when I asked him to stop. I also made it clear that I employed him to do my taxes so there was no need for the rudeness. I just wanted my problem resolved. He proceeded to tell me to call back and then hung up on me. I am actually very scared that I am being scammed because of how defensive he was on the phone. He was rude several times before when I called but I gave him the benefit of the doubt, thinking he had a bad day. But now I am nervous of what he may do with my information now that I seen the level of aggression he showed on the phone.
Product_Or_Service: 2018 and 2019 Taxes
Finish the job I honestly just want my taxes to be completed accurately. I don't want to have any more dealings with this company or Paul. I just want to get my taxes and for him to get paid so I never have to come across him again.
Ms. ***, came into my office to have her taxes prepared. After I prepared her tax return the client viewed her tax documents on a tablet were she was asked to verify her information. She reviewed her documents and checked the box stating she verified her information. I then put her onto the signature tab where she signed digitally for her tax return. She then received a copy of the tax return in one of these 3 ways (or up to all 3 options) a printed copy, a emailed copy, or a digital copy where she logs into a portal to access her documents ( which is the same portal she used to verify her information). After a few weeks the client reached out to my office and told me she has not received her return at this time, I then reminded her the IRS office has shut down to a limited staff due the current out break Covid19 and to give it more time . In the weeks following she called a couple of times getting loud and upset that she has not received her tax refund yet. She then called and said that the address on her return was incorrect in multiple spots, when I attempted to assure her the IRS only goes by the address on the 1040 she began to get upset and aggravated to the extent of yelling at me, so I told her I am hanging up the phone and she can call back when she can speak calmly. The next day she called back and said she apologize for getting loud as we both were getting aggravated . I then explained to her the IRS goes by the address on the 1040. We verified the address and determined the address on the 1040 was entered incorrectly, I apologized to her and then reminded her she viewed the documents in question and verified the information was accurate, at that point she admitted she did verify the information in question. I then told her that she will need to submit a change of address form to the IRS. I explained to her where she can get the document to change her address at. I reminded her that the IRS office is still closed and as such the change of address form will take longer than it would in normal situations.
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
There are several parts of this response, that would like to address. The first being that he "apologized." I made sure to record the call from that following day (after the original incident). During this call he didn't apologize, or even seem remorseful for what had happened. Therefore, his response is untruthful and there is evidence to prove this.
The other issue I am having is where he said that I confirmed my address. This is a true statement, but I confirmed one address and throughout my paperwork there are 3 separate addresses; one of which being my actual address. If I did not confirm the correct address, I am very confused as to why it was one of the 3 listed in my paperwork. When I came to file my taxes Paul was quite focused on getting the job done, but then he got a bit distracted when his wife and children came in. This was when were finishing up, I was confirming my address, and he was rounding up with my paperwork. He was clearly distracted and in a hurry to close up his office as soon as they arrived.
Overall, I am still very upset about the incident. I do not believe a customer should be treated the way I was treated. I filed on February 8, 2020 and it is May 16, 2020. I am still to receive my tax refund, which also makes it to where I can't receive my stimulus check. Still I have not even received an apology from Paul, all I got was the blame for the mistakes.
