Business has not complied with the services outlined in the contract. On May 5, 2015, we hired Cooks Home Improvement to replace 6 windows and 1 door. We gave him all of the cost for the material that was needed. As of 7/29/15, he has replaced 3 windows. * 5/14/15 - Windows came in. [redacted] contacted me and said he will be out on 5/15/15 to remove all 6 windows with his crew so he needed $500 to pay his crew. [redacted] received the $500 cash on 5/14/15. * 5/15/15 - [redacted] showed up very late with 5 windows. Only the living room window was replaced. When he replaced the window the sheetrock on the interior side of the house had to be removed because apparently he measured the windows wrong and had to cut the sheetrock to make it fit. The 6th window that he did not bring, came in the wrong size and he had to return it and he supposedly reordered it.* On 5/22/15 - [redacted] showed up very late again and replaced the front bedroom and kitchen window. * 5/26/15 - [redacted] texted and said he would be there at 9am with the door to finish the job. He did not show up or call.* 5/27/15 - texted [redacted] and he responded that he was on the phone and would call me. He never did. * 5/28/15 - Texted [redacted] and asked for an update. He did not call but did text saying he was in court.* 5/29/15 - asked for an update and asked why he is not getting back with me. [redacted] texted back and said he would call. He finally called and my husband talked to him. [redacted] asked for a resolution the next day. [redacted] never responded with an update. Also, since this phone call, [redacted] will not speak with us on the phone. We have made several attempts to talk to him but he either sends us straight to voice mail or does not answer.* 6/02/15 - [redacted] informed me that the small window would be in on Wednesday (June 05, 2015).* June 3rd through June 23, 2015 - asked several time (almost daily) for an update on the window and door. When he responded it was always "I will check on it". Then we never hear back from him. Then we would ask again and we received the same response. We even set up a time to meet him at [redacted] to get the door. After waiting for over two hours at [redacted], he informed us that he was still working and could not meet us.* On June 24, 2015, I sent a [redacted] message to [redacted] and [redacted] because I could not get [redacted] to communicate by phone or in person. Request made on [redacted] below. Message was more than 4000 characters and would not fit on the Revdex.com site. Please respond by July 3, 2015. I do not want to have to start a complaint process with the Revdex.com and/or other legal action that may need to be necessary. Request I have: 1. Obtain the door or receive the money back 2. Obtain the one window that was the wrong size or receive the money back 3. Receive all receipt of the material that has been or will be given to us. 4. End the contractI really hope you change your approach on how you deal with other customers to prevent your business from failing. End messageSince this message was sent:* We have communicated by text almost daily with [redacted] to make arrangements for us to pick up the material we have paid for and end the contract. He has responded that he will make arrangements the next day but has yet to follow through with his word. This has continued for several weeks.* 7/27/15 - informed him by text that we were filing a complaint on the Revdex.com and contacting a lawyer. Cooks Home Improvement customer service is very poor. [redacted], the owner is not concerned with finishing the contract he has with his customers, nor is he concern with the quality of the repairs that he does. Also his communication skills are non-existent. Cooks Home Improvement relies on word of mouth to gain new business. I would suggest that anyone needing repairs, not use Cooks Home Improvement.Desired SettlementMake arrangements to pick up remaining materials and to have no further contact with said businessBusiness Response I have done told Mr [redacted] that all I had to do was go sign a piece of paper then he could go pick the door up but I told him y I haven't done it yet and he told me he don't care and want his stuff I told him I would get by there ASAP that I'm working out of town so as soon as I get back I will thanks Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)[redacted] has been telling me this for several weeks now. He does not live very far from [redacted], so it shouldn't be hard for him to do this in a timely manner. He has not been responding to my texts, as this is the only way he will have any contact with me, but after informing him of having contacted a lawyer, he has acted like he wants to be agreeable. Having said all of that, the [redacted] doesn't have any record of the door ever being ordered by [redacted]. Also, there is a window that is in question as well. Final Business Response I have done told Mr [redacted] that I was out of town and as soon as I get back in town I would get the material ready for him to pick up. Thanks

Josh C[redacted] was contracted to do some painting and other home improvemts to be completed by 9/25, he failed to make the date and refuses to give refundJosh c[redacted] was contracted to paint, remove wallpaper, repair a floor and install a garage door opener. When discussing the job with Josh, I was very clear that all work had to be complete by the evening of 9/28/15. He received his first check of 784.47 on 9/17/15. On 9/21/15 he stated that he was having family issues and had to hire someone for part of the job. But, to do so, he needed the rest of the payment. On 9/21 he picked up a check for 431.47. I followed up with several text messages as I was concerned about the progress. Josh assured me that he would be complete. Josh failed to complete the job and I had to hire someone else to complete. Josh refuses to refundthemoney for the unfinished work.Desired SettlementI would like a refund of $425.00 for unfinished work. This would include partial payment for part of work not completed in living room, kitchen, and garage door opener. A full refund for the wall paper removal, and floor repair.Business Response I have been in contact with u over this I have texts and recorded calls letting u know what happen my little girl and my wife was in the hospital I have told them that had have shown them documents I am sorry u are up set and would like to take care of this matter how ever they like but I can't help things may not have went as planned. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)While Josh did claim he was having family issues, when he wrote the bid and accepted the contract, it was very clear that the project had to be completed by the evening of 9/28/15. He texted us that his daughter was ill, but he assured us many times throughout the time between 9/17 and 9/28 that in spite of everything, the job would be completed on time. On 9/20 he asked for an advance so that he could pay someone else to remove the wallpaper to insure that he would be done on time. We communicated with him on 9/22 stating again that we needed to be complete by 9/28 and that no one had started the wallpaper removal. He assured us that it would be done and stated that he had not cashed the check yet, when in fact he had.I went to the house at 5 pm on 9/28 and expressed my concern that no progress had been made, including the wallpaper. He replied that he was on his way, planning on working all night, and not to worry. We heard nothing more from him until 9/30 when he said he had more family issues. I have asked for a refund for the work not done. He has made several commitments to come and return the money, but has failed to make any of those commitments as well. I have copies of the contract, emails, canceled checks, and text messages stating he would make the deadline as well as pay us.Final Business Response

On 10/30 I paid josh cook 175 dollars to repair a cracked sidewalk and to move hinges on gates in my driveway. He never showed and will not answer hisI paid [redacted] cook 175 dollars for work to be completed on 11/1/14 he did not show or call .When I tried to call him he would not answer. I tried several times just went to voice mail. His phone # [redacted] His address[redacted] cv[redacted] tn [redacted] took my gates with him as of today I have not the work completed Desired SettlementTo get my money and gates returned to me.Business Response Hello sorry I have not got in touch with yall over this matter I have had some family matters come up and had to take care of them. On this matter I was called out to look at there drive way to see about repaving it and which I got the job I had to repave the drive way and cut move and reweld hinges on a gate and fill in some cracks on there side walk. They paid half of the money for the drive way and I got started the next day when the driveway was finished they asked me to fill in some cracks on sidewalk and cut and move and reweld hinges on a gate which I did and finished. I asked them about a time frame on the gate and they said that they was in no rush so I took the gates with me due to me having my welder on another job and the only thing I can think of them maybe being upset about is that it took me to days longer then what we had talked about but I did call and let them know what was going on and they was ok about it when I got them done I took them back and put the gates up to make sure they was right and filled in the cracks on the side walk. I do have pictures and have the phone called recorded if yall need them. They was happy when I left there but dont know why they are complaining about. I have received all my money and the jobs are done and told they if they needed anything to call me and have not heard anything from them since. If u need anything else please call or email me back thank u for your time and have a blessed day. [redacted] cook cookshomeimprovment.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) ** Cook is telling you a lie. He did bring my gates back, that's what my major concern. As far as the driveway repair. My grandson could have done a better job. He came after dark and threw a fast patch that looks horrible. I except the job as is because I don't want him back. Just want to say anyone who hires him is taking a chance . I would highly recommend avoiding this guy not a man of his word.

We have paid for work that isn't completed and [redacted] will not return calls. The job isn't finished and we don't have the materials. We hired [redacted] on 4/9/15 to replace a privacy fence and tear down a brick retaining wall and replace with wooden timber. We also signed another contract for a curved bench around a fire pit. We paid for all materials up front and have fronted most all of the labor. On day one of the job, he promised to have the fence done in 3 days. After he began work, we added another side and an extra gate. It then took him over 4 weeks to complete the work that another contractor told us should have taken 4 days. Even though we told him we were in no rush, we began getting concerned when the job was not close to being finished after two weeks. He began work on the retaining wall prior to finishing the fence, and it is still not even halfway finished. As of 5/16/15, the job is still not complete and [redacted] will not return phone calls or texts. He told us on 5/12/15 that we needed more material. We showed him all of the signed contracts and proof that we had already bought extra material. He was supposed to bring receipts showing what was bought so we could work this out. He now will not show up or return the money. He has promised to bring extra people and none have ever materialized. He works on average of 3 hours per day when he does show up. He will come and work for about an hour and then say he has to run to [redacted] for supplies, but does not return until 2-3 hours later. He then works for about another hour and takes off again for lunch. I have documented the hours he has worked and kept track of when he comes, leaves, and returns. There has been more drama with this guy than could ever be written with 4000 characters. He isn't a person of his word or character. Desired SettlementI want the money returned for all material that we have paid for that hasn't been used. This would include the additional $300 for the bench that he promised wouldn't be cashed. We gave him a check for $300 on 5/9/15, and he told us it would not be cashed until the materials were bought and the bench was started. He cashed the check on 5/11/15 and work on the bench has not begun yet (today's date is 5/16/15). The total he owes us is around $600, if not more. The receipts that he has in his possession show that we have paid for all the materials needed to finish the job. There is no way to verify what he has used our money for. Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: XXXXXXXXXXContact Email: [redacted]@gmail.com Hello I was asked to do some work for Mr [redacted] and it turned out to be more work then we thought and I went to tell them that we needed more material and they said they was not going to pay for nothing else that I would have to get it due to what the contract says I have pic of work and the contracts as well also they wanted to see all the things I paid for which I took them over to him and gave it to him. There was w few days I could not work due to rain and I had a death in the family and come to find out Mr [redacted] called to see if my grandmother really died I have Ben very good to them gave them a great price and great customer service and now they are putting my name in the dirt over this they just told u I owe 600 but I have proof where they say I owe the 1200 which is not true. Let me know if u need anything else thanks and have a great day.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)[redacted]'s response, like almost everything he says, is a lie. I am attaching the 5 contracts he wrote for his work. They show that we paid for extra material on several occasions. Contracts #1 and #2 were for the original work on the fence. Contract #3 was for the additional work on the fence, and contract #4 was for the retaining wall. It is clearly written on contract #4 that [redacted] added $250 extra for more material on the wall, and we paid for it. We paid for extra materials THREE times on that contract as you can easily see. So, when he told us he needed more money to pay for more materials, we asked to see the receipts. This made him angry, but he did finally bring them to us on 5/18. He would not discuss anything with us, although we asked him many times to sit down and go through everything. The receipts show that he bought $2,264.35 worth of material. We paid $3,479 for material. That is a difference of $1,214.65. The total amount broken down for the 5 contracts is: $3479 for materials and $3700 for labor. So we have $1,214.65 that can't be accounted for. Our original complaint stated "$600, if not more," because we did not have the actual receipts on 5/16 when we filed our first complaint. Contract #5 is about the bench that [redacted] refuses to talk about. We gave him a $300 check on 5/8, and he told us he would not cash it. He cashed it on 5/11. No work has ever been started on the bench, and there are no materials. He told us another contractor that he knew was going to build it for us while he finished the retaining wall. When we asked him for the name and number of the 'bench guy', he gave us a number that I tried calling many times, but no one ever answered. After finding a site on the internet called reverse phone lookup, the number he gave us is actually his home phone number. This man lies about everything.I will only briefly get into the issue with his grandmother because he brought it up. There is a second story on another site about [redacted] where he also claimed his grandmother died. The only reason we even questioned it was because he said they didn't have money to pay for the funeral. Again, we trusted him and called Peebles Funeral Home to ask if we could help. The funeral home had no record of the funeral or the family. [redacted] sent a text on May 6 saying he had to leave early to bury his grandma, but when we questioned Peebles, they told us they didn't have any funerals on that date. He told us that there is a 3rd Peebles Funeral Home, but after contacting them again today, they confirmed that there are only 2 and they share the same phone number. They also did an internet search for all surrounding funeral homes, and there is no record of anyone by the name he gave us.[redacted] doesn't understand that a contract is a contract. The fact that he underbid a job has now become our issue. We would have gladly paid for additional work if he could show us how he spent the $3479 we already gave him for materials on a job that is still only half complete. The attached copies of the contracts show the check numbers and amounts that we paid for materials and labor. The facts are the facts. We have a contract, and we paid for the work. He said he couldn't work a few days because of rain...He has taken over 6 weeks to build a privacy fence and half of a retaining wall. We have now hired a second company to complete the wall and they have contracted to do it in 2 days. The drama and heartache this man has caused my family has been unlike anything I could have ever dreamed would happen. We wanted a wall and fence built. We signed a contract and paid the money. Everything else is an example of the drama that follows [redacted]. There are many other stories that we could share that show the moral character of this man, but we don't want to stray from the facts. We had a contract for work to be done, we paid for the work, but the work is still not complete, and [redacted] will not return the money so that we can finish the job.Final Consumer Response [redacted]Document Attached[redacted]Once again, [redacted] is not telling the truth. He said he has called and texted, but I can assure you that we have not received any calls from him. He texted on June 6 and said he would like to meet and give us the $300 for the bench. I responded back the very next day (because I was out of town that weekend) and told him to let me know when he would like to meet. He did not respond back, so I left him a voicemail on June 11 and sent him another text. Again I told him to let me know when he would like to meet. I have attached a screen shot of our text messages, so the dates and times can be clearly seen. He did eventually meet and gave us the $300 he took from us, but he owes us much more. We had to pay someone else to finish the retaining wall, although we gave him plenty of money on several different occasions to get the materials to finish the job. I am not quite sure what he is talking about when he says he did us a favor on the bench. We signed a contract and gave him money to buy materials. That is not a favor. It took him over a month to give us back the $300. I also had to spend the better part of this past weekend finishing work on the fence that [redacted] said was complete. He put the dog ears up quickly and used just a couple of screws to keep them in place, and then was supposed to go back and finish putting all the screws in when he was finished. He asked for more money for screws (which we gave him), but he never went back and put in the correct amount of screws. So I had to go buy a 5 lb box of screws this past weekend and finish his job. We are obviously not satisfied with his work, work ethic, and overall moral compass. At this point, we just want to move on and forget about Cooks Home Improvement. Final Business Response I had already meet with Mr [redacted] and showed him where his mistake was and gave him his money back due to me not being able to do the work fast enough for him due to them adding more and more work on top of what I already had. We had to meet at the police department and they saw everything due to us doing everything in the lobby. If u need any more info just let me know that's. Have a great day.
