Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below I am writing a follow up to a complaint I filed earlier this month ID [redacted] I was not satisfied with the response I received from Oakmont Eye CareThey basically said they would do nothingI was mislead when I made my appointment in which they told me do not worry your insurance will cover exam with no copayment.I had the same exam as the year before, but this time without telling me they billed my medical insurance that would not pay billI received a bill from Oakmont Eye Care which said I had a $copayI sent them the $copay even though they had initially told me there was no copay needed I just wanted to get the matter settled and I thought it was until they sent me another bill for $When I called to question why, I was told it was my fault and I should have known they might send it to my medical insuranceWell, it was not my faultI was just going by what they told me before I made the exam I am thoroughly disgusted with the way I was treated and misleadIt is not right that they tell you one thing then do another without telling you I think I deserve an apology for being given information and misleadI also would like them to return the $copay which they had told me wasn't needs and I would like them to cancel the bill for $ that they keep sending me Regards, *** [redacted]

I am writing a follow up to a complaint I filed earlier this
month ID[redacted]. I was not satisfied with the response I received from Oakmont
Eye Care. They basically said they would do nothing. I was mislead when I made
my appointment in which they told me do not worry your insurance will cover
exam with no copayment.I had the same exam as the year before, but this time
without telling me they billed my medical insurance that would not pay bill. I
received a bill from Oakmont Eye Care which said I had a $25 copay. I sent them
the $25 copay even though they had initially told me there was no copay needed.
I just wanted to get the matter settled and I thought it was until they sent me
another bill for $85. When I called to question why, I was told it was my fault
and I should have known they might send it to my medical insurance. Well, it
was not my fault. I was just going by what they told me before I made the exam.
I am thoroughly disgusted with the way I was treated and mislead. It is not
right that they tell you one thing then do another without telling you.
I think I deserve an apology for being given false
information and mislead. I also would like them to return the $25 copay which
they had told me wasn't needs and I would like them to cancel the bill for $85
that they keep sending me.

We received your letter regarding Wayne [redacted]'s complaint. Mr. [redacted] called our office to discuss this matter...

Mr. [redacted] first visited our office on November 14, 2012 for a routine eye examination. At that visit, he was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes and was instructed to return in one year to recheck the cataracts. The visit on November 14, 2012 was billed to the patient's vision Insurance as a routine exam, Mr. [redacted] did return to the office the following year on December 19, 2013 as directed by the doctor to recheck the cataracts. The visit on December 19, 2014 was billed to medical insurance since the patient was being examined for a medical condition (cataracts) that had been detected during the November 2012 exam.
Mr. [redacted] is indicating that his exam was inappropriately billed to his medical insurance which is was not, His medical insurance was billed for a comprehensive exam and refraction with the diagnosis of cataracts. His insurance company indicated this is his responsibility so the balance was transferred back to Mr. [redacted].

Review: I was told that my vision insurance would cover my exam. But instead of billing my vision insurance like they said, they billed my medical insurance company without telling me why. My medical insurance did not cover exam. I called them to ask them why they did this and was told it was a more thorough exam and I should have known this might happen so it was my fault and they are billing me a $25 copayment and $85 exam fee for something they told me would be covered 100% with no copayment. I asked them to give me the name of the organization such as an optometry association that Doctor belonged to so I could file an appeal and a complaint but they refused to give me any information saying it wasn't a malpractice issue. I was mislead and treated very unfairly and blamed for something that wasn't my fault.Desired Settlement: I would like an apology for the way I was treated and to have these unfair charges removed and to have my $25 copayment that I shouldn't have sent to them returned.
