Her current insurance did not cover the particular brand of contact lenses we
prescribed. [redacted] requested to be fitted with a type and brand of contact
lenses that her insurance would cover.
We obliged her and had her return on 4-30-15 for a refit with a different brand
of contact lenses. These lenses were reported by [redacted] to be not as comfortable as the previously worn contact lenses. There was a moderate amount of contact lense build up, She was instructed to clean the contact lenses better and was given a contact lense cleaning kit and a new set of trial contact lenses.
On 6-9-15 the patient returned for another contact lense follow up and presented good vision and comfort with the trial contact lenses. Subsequently, our patient requested to be switched to a contact lense brand that was no longer manufactured because her insurance would cover them. These were no longer available, so the patient again, requested to be switched to the previous contact lense type.
We replied to patient that we were willing to have her return the contact lenses
that she currently had and switch her to the previous brand that we had fitted her with successfully, with good comfort and vision.
We finalized dispensing the new boxes of contact lenses exactly as she was fitted previously with good vision and comfort. No contact lenses were given to her that were unchecked and unmonitored as she states in her complaint.
Our office went out of our way to be courteous and accommodating to this patient, as we do with all our patients.
