Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 11443126, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]The part of Mark Corsi's response where he said "the tile was loose" is correct.  I remarked immediately back to him  " it wasn't".  Grout was not missing,   He did not sit on the edge of the tub and knock it with only his index finger.  He had to step into the tub and bend over a little, because the tub  had glass doors on it and he would not have been able to sit on the edge of the tub due to the door track.  As for using his index finger to see if the tile was loose, he used his index finger and  the other four fingers on his right hand in the shape of a fist.  He literally put his hand into a fist and hit the tiled wall with the right side of his right handed fist, three times.  He did tell me he had a fiberglass tub surround that he would use  to replace the tile after knocking out the wall.  He said it wouldn't go as high as the tile and he'd plaster the top portion of the wall above the fiberglass surround.   When he walked into the bathroom and saw the counter top he immediately said it had to be replaced with a marble top.  I told him I was working under cost constraints and wanted the hand basin replaced along with the fixtures.    As for the tub, I wanted the fixtures replaced. What I didn't tell him, was that he was the second plumber I had come in for an estimate.  The first well known reputable plumber in the community was there a week earlier and said he could do what I wanted.  He also said the tile surrounding the tub was fine and he would be able to replace the fixtures without damaging the tile.   He has already sent me estimates for everything and there are no tile repair costs in the bid. Before submitting this complaint to the Revdex.com, I had waited a couple of weeks and never received a quote from Mark Corsi.  His attitude when he was reviewing the jobsite was not professional and I did not feel comfortable calling him to discuss the damage he did.As I read his response to the complaint, he does not clearly remember what he exactly did.   I had called him for an estimate, because I had seen is work in someone else's house and I was pleased with it.  After my experience with him, I would not recommend his service to anyone.Since this event I have contacted one more contractor to get a quote on what it will cost to fix the tiled wall.  He will be emailing me a quote in the next week.  His recommendation is to remove all three walls surrounding the tub and replace with a white tile and try to save a few pieces of the colored tile to incorporate into a simple pattern, so as the new tile blends with the colored tile surrounding the remaining bathroom walls.  The cost of that bid is the monetary value I would request from Mark Corsi to settle this issue.

Theresa [redacted]

On April 25, 2016, I did have an appointment with Ms. [redacted]. I went into thefirst bathroom, she talked about changing the bathtub faucet. I sat on the edge of the tuband I proceeded to knock on the tile with my index finger that surrounded the faucet andback wall to see if any of the tiles were...

loose, because I did notice grout was missing. The tile indeed was loose. I pointed out to Ms. [redacted] the tile needed replaced. Ialways check the tile because they did not use cement board back 25-30 years ago whenthe tile was placed, drywall was placed on the tub wall. Drywall is like a sponge to water,I noticed grout missing, that is what causes water to penetrate and absorb into thedrywall, therefore causing loose tile and drywall damage. I also am able to tell the age ofthe tile and what was used as a backboard from the color of the tile and fixtures. That iswhy I knock on the tile with my index finger to point out to the customer the wall is bad.I proceeded to tell her the tile needs replaced and the least expensive way to go would beaS piece fiberglass Swan Tub Surround, she agreed on that and I would figure the cost ofthe project. We then proceeded to examine the vanity countertop, to replace the top, notthe vanity. We then proceeded into the next bathroom. I have been in business since1981, second generation, every bathroom job requiring tile; I always knock with myindex finger to point out if the tile is solid or loose. I always point out to the customer ifthe tile is solid to loose, because most customers just do not realize the tile is bad. I havenever had a complaint in 35 years of business. I talce great pride in my craftsmanship andwill only provide the utmost impeccable craftsmanship and customer service. I am notresponsible to pay the cost of repairing the loose tile, because the tub walls clearly neededreplaced.
