Review: I purchased a new contraction from [redacted] in 2016 December and Creative Design Interiors is their contractor for counter and flooring. We got a quote from Creative Design Interiors for engineered hardwood floor and the price is way above what we expected. We asked [redacted] if we can hire our own contractor to do the hardwood floor, but I was told that by the contract we have to take whatever Creative Design Interiors offered.

The property is in [redacted]. The quote from Creative Design Interiors is $62,015 for 4000 sqrt, or $15.5/sqrt.

The engineered hardwood we selected is [redacted]. We found a local dealer store selling it at $5.88/sqrt before any discount. Therefore the installation labor fee is about $10/sqrt which is more than triple of normal fee.

I feel like being trapped by the contact because now I will have to take whatever they are offering.

Thanks,

[redacted]Desired Settlement: I appreciate if you can contact T[redacted] to allow us to hire our own flooring contractor before Mar 15.

Response:

[redacted]I need to get more information about which [redacted] and [redacted] number you are purchasing so that I can verify the information you provided. A couple of things to keep in mind is that you are not obligated to use CDI for the installation of this hardwood. You can have the standard flooring that is included in the purchase price of the home installed at no additional cost to you and then hire your own flooring contractor to install the hardwood after you close escrow. We often have Homeowners that feel they can get a better price on their flooring after closing escrow due to having relatives or other connections in the flooring industry.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Thank you for your response. That's really helpful. The community name is [redacted], lot number is [redacted]Thanks again,[redacted]

Review: Our builder [redacted] used these guys to buy and install carpets. We bought a brand new house in April 2015. The next month of moving in, the carpet started having purple spots rise in heavy traffic areas and equally the carpet has lost its new look looking 100% flat in traffic areas. They had sent an inspector Roger (3rd party was suppose to be anonymous) whom we are sure was paid off by them since Roger had pictures already e-mailed to him along with our lot info, etc. which only the builder and CDI had. BE CAREFUL DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM. We strongly believe they are selling recycled carpets and are here to thief people. Alongside, they are selling [redacted] carpets as their top seller which is a 1 star carpet on consumer reviews. Be very very careful buying stuff from them - includes all - the builder [redacted], the inspector who got paid off - [redacted], [redacted] 1 star carpets...they claim it is a chemical that has caused the carpet to go purple/lavendar. Which [redacted] product on shelf causes carpets to go purple as we only shop there and if a product is doing that it should be across the board for ALL houses uses the product. Make sense of what you guys are telling people from their hard earned pennies. And really? A brand new carpet is suppose to look flat within 4 months?Desired Settlement: Fix the issue and act in an ethical fashion. Let us know which chemical is causing purple areas across the carpet as you guys are the experts!

Response:

Mrs. [redacted], I am sorry that you are experiencing issues with the carpet in your home. The Customer Service Team at Creative Design Interiors (CDI) has done good job in trying to identify what is wrong with your carpet. Our Field Managers are experts in the installation and repair of carpet and the other materials we install. Unfortunately, they are not chemical experts. This is why [redacted], Customer Service Manager for CDI in Manteca, commissioned a neutral, 3rd Party, Licensed and Certified Flooring Inspector ([redacted] to inspect the carpet in your home and provide us with his professional assessment. If he had he found a manufacturing defect in your carpet, this report would have been required for us to go back to the manufacturer on your behalf and get your carpet replaced. [redacted] is a professional, thorough and respected Inspector that is used by most flooring contractors in Northern California. [redacted]'s inspection report concludes that the yellow dye in your carpet has been damaged in the locations of the spots, leaving the red and the blue which is causing the lavender color that you are seeing. There is no way for [redacted], CDI or [redacted] to know what chemicals removed that yellow dye. Based on the pattern and location of the spots, it was determined that this occurred after installation and it is considered "damage to the carpet" which is not a manufacturing defect and not repairable. [redacted] also addressed your secondary concern with the texture change that you are seeing throughout the house. You did purchase an upgraded (group 2) carpet that has a 10-year texture retention warranty. [redacted] found slight to moderate texture changes in the traffic areas. He used the Carpet and Rug Institute's field guide and determined your carpet is rating at a 2 - 3. When the carpet was brushed, it improved to a 3.5 - 4. His examination of the individual tufts did not find significant twist loss or matting. Your carpet does appear to be crushing but will restore when brushed and groomed. The texture change of your carpet is well within the expected range for a carpet of this density and yarn system. You may want to ensure that the beater bar on your vacuum is working properly and make sure that you are following the manufacturer's guidelines for vacuuming frequency and ongoing maintenance. This information is readily available on [redacted]'s website. CDI will send you and [redacted] a copy of [redacted]'s inspection report along with a letter form of this response from CDI to your complaint. If you have any future concerns with any of the products we installed in your home, please follow Taylor Morrison's established process for submitting Warranty Requests and we will be sure to address them in a prompt and professional manner. Sincerely, [redacted] Creative Design Interiors, Inc
