I interviewed with Career Solutions for Executive Placement on August 8, 2012. I was told I was very marketable and my background was impressive. .... From the very first interview I was told why I needed Career Solutions services. Traditional methods using job boards are not effective as the majority of those positions posted are already filled and are for the most part, politically correct in "posting" the position. You are also at the mercy of scanners searching for key words so hundreds, if not thousands of resumes can be viewed by non-human means and if you get through by some miracle, you are then at the mercy of HR who is very black and white. I was informed that my success will be their long history of success finding companies where they can use their expertise to match me with the decision maker bypassing HR. Generally this is done over a casual dinner or drink with this person and they will generally hire you creating a position or filling an existing need based solely on the interaction and conversation between all involved and the initial resume Career Solutions delivered to that decision maker. They even told my wife that she may need to be part of that meeting at the time they interviewed her. I told Career Solutions that my need for employment is swift and I have about 4 months I can go utilizing their company methods. The decision by all was to proceed. I have paid them $1750 to date for their services as discussed above. After 3 months of nothing happening, and then another month went by with me hitting the job boards daily....I discussed my frustration with them and the lack of results. I have asked them for a list of who they have contacted on my behalf and to date, nothing has been provided. I have emailed them of the numerous companies I have contacted and applied for through the job boards they had previously told me were ineffective. That was all I knew I could do as I did not have their "expertise". I was assured in a later meeting in December they would ramp up efforts and assign an in-house researcher to the help achieve the results I needed. That was 4 months ago and still not one single meeting / interview in 7 months. The only thing they have done was to help write a new resume based on all the information I provided in weekly meetings. In fact, I was told I would need more than one resume and several would be tailored for the type of position they were working on. To date, I have only seen or received one. This was only a small part of what they were "hired" to do. I did some research in the Phoenix market and one can get a professional resume written for an average of $300. I have written to career Solutions about this several times and I can see that the email was read...but ignored. I am willing to pay them $400 for the one resume they managed to produce in all fairness, leaving a balance of $1350 I would need refunded so I can move on and hire a different company to help with my situation. There is no mutual consideration in this case. I have been the only individual to perform and actually pay funds for my part. Their lack to produce lists or requests made by me in writing along with their lack to provide a single interview in seven months, clearly shows this is a very one-sided agreement and voids any agreement with Career Solutions due to the lack of consideration provided by them on my behalf, for the funds provided and all the time I spent at their facility helping them write a resume.
