D. Kenney Bamboo Flyrods

I ordered a bamboo fly rod from [redacted] Kenney (the maker) at a Fly Fishing Show in Massachusetts back on March 10, 2006. I was required to make a down payment of $412.50. I was told the rod would be ready in 6 months. I have a signed receipt from [redacted] with a description of the rod. After no delivery in a year I called, emailed and even visited [redacted]'s shop in Middlesex VT. [redacted] is a very nice person with the best sympathy excuses for every imaginable delay. But it has been over 7 years now. This past Nov 2012 [redacted] called to tell me that my rod would be soon ready -- I called him back in December and he asked what kind of Rod Tube I would want. I recently joined an online Bamboo Rod forum and found a section where [redacted] has a number of people saying very good things about his rods - and always about how they are going to order another one. And then I saw one note from another member saying that if you wanted to learn more about [redacted] Kenney to contact him. He wrote me back to say that while [redacted] does occasionally build and deliver beautiful bamboo fly rods, he has been luring people in from around the country, accepting down payments ($200 to $600) and then never delivering rods. His note went on to say that a lot of business between a fly rod maker and a customer is often a handshake and level of trust. And that most people live far away and can't afford the time to take [redacted] to court. He said that I might be one of the very few that actually has a signed receipt.
