Daniel's Shoe and Boot Repair Reviews (1)

Review: I recently hurt my leg and had to stop wearing heels. I took some much loved and sentimental gift item to have low heels put on as well as minor sole fix. Due to having to only work part-time, I went back the next morning to pick them up until I could afford the $40 price tag. The proprietor immediately started yelling at me that he forgot to get $20 before he started, but he already had the low heels on the boots. I said I would come back with the money and he yelled and screamed at me in front of many others that he needed it now and told me don't ever come back. He upset me so much, I did not go back even though my deceased husband gave me those boots. Then he started calling my house multiple time, so went back to try to solve issue. He had taken my old high heeled heels and put them back on and now demanded $45 for the boots. When I told him I asked for low heels, not the old ones, put on, he proceeded to once again scream at me. I asked for the manager's number and he refused to give it to me. I told him I am not paying for old, crooked heels to be put back on my boots when that is not what I asked for and he was giving me back the same boots I took him, just charging for the. I am willing to pay the original price quoted of $40 for the soles and flat heels on my boots and I would really not like to deal with that rude person again. I am planning to put this experience out there so people don't have to deal with a rude, screaming tradesman, but I want my boots back, whether fixed or not. Thanks for your anticpated help.Desired Settlement: I really think due to this man's behavior, I shouldn't have to pay at all, but I will pay if my boots are actually fixed with new soles and flat heels.

Business

Response:

The customer came in on March 12th, 2013 with a pair of western boots wanting the heel and sole fixed. The price was going to be $50 but I lowered it to $45. I didn't ask for a deposit as customer didn't have the cash on her. I told her since the job was going to take a week or so, to just drop in later that week to drop off the deposit. She came in one or two days later wanting to pick up the shoes, I asked for the $20 and she wanted to stop the job and take the boots with her, however, I had already began work on the shoes so couldn’t give them back to her. I told her the boots would be ready in 2 or 3 days as she stormed out.

Our store likes to donate shoes that have been left for extended periods of time to charities as said by our 30 day policy; we aren’t responsible for shoes left for that long. We tried calling the customer multiple times, at least once per month asking and reminding her to pick up her shoes. We never got a response and left voicemails on every call asking if she planned to come in and pick them up and warned her about the possibility of losing them.

The customer never replied, instead she came back into the store mid-July and complained that the work we had done, that she injured herself and is now unable to wear heels. However, this is not the job she asked for 4 months ago. She had asked for the heel and sole to be fixed. She said she wasn't going to pay for a "bad unfinished job", so she left, threatening to file a report to the Revdex.com.

This is a small family business where we try to satisfy our customers in every way possible in hopes of their continuing business. If the customer felt offended we would like to apologize and we hope to reach a stipulation on this matter.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[First of all, the person I talked to was doing the yelling/storming and refused to discuss the matter in a rational manner. I asked to speak to the owner and he refused that as well as giving me his name. This does not resolve my issue as I want my boots for the agreed price of $40 with sole/ low heels as requested or just give them back with no repairs.

Regards,
