To whom it may concern,My name is Dan T[redacted], Owner/sole proprietor of Dan's Plumbing LLC. This is in response to complaint filed by [redacted].Ms. [redacted] sent me a letter detailing her complaints. This appears to be the same complaints that she detailed to Revdex.com. I do not dispute the time...
frame to which she refers. There were a series of issues that kept me from promptly completing the repair. None of these issues was Ms. [redacted]'s fault so I do not dispute the time frame. However, there are a number of incorrect facts in her letter.1) The cost of the repair as performed by another plumber. $186.00 for the part and $68.00 for the labor. as I have been a [redacted] service tech for a number of years I already knew [redacted] will send out parts for ANY heater that is under warranty. They DO NOT require old parts returned to validate warranty. A quick call to [redacted] Tech Support confirmed this. Their phone number is ###-###-####.2) I did not order my parts from [redacted]. I have used a third party to supply these parts on occasion sometimes due to cost or in the interest of getting a part immediately to shorten down time of the heater. That will explain why [redacted] did not show me ordering a part.3) Ms. [redacted] refers to an "isolation assembly". She also refers to a hot water valve. These are one in the same. I did indeed take the valve with me. As it did not need to be returned to [redacted]. Additionally, Hot and cold valves CAN be purchased (or acquired under warranty) individually. So she did not need to "purchase the entire hot and cold isolation assembly".4) Servicing the heater is required by [redacted] to maintain warranty. This involves a flush with appropriate vinegar or citrus liquid. There are varying opinions on length of time between flushes. Often the heater itself will tell you. Generally one year is the common time frame. 6 months has come up more recently as a means to create more service calls. Myself, I use one year.Additionally, these heaters do not "blow up". When the flush hasn't been done in awhile the internal sensors (of which there are many) simply shut the device down. I have run into this many times with customers that do not call to schedule flushes. I am a one man show, no employees. I do not maintain an office staff to call and remind people to service their equipment. Most of my customers recognize this and simply call me each year. I do not feel it is my job to babysit every heater I put in. 5) The words "unethical" and "negligent" have been used. In my experience negligence is usually found where there has been property damage or loss of service. Neither the letter I received from Ms. [redacted] or the Revdex.com mentioned anything about damage. Additionally, "unethical" seems to describe unfair or illegal business practices. I have asked for no additional money for this repair, labor or parts, to include the temporary valve I installed for no charge. I ask you, was it "unethical" for the new plumber to charge parts and labor, for parts that are under warranty?I understand Ms. [redacted] is unhappy about the time frame. But, at no time was she without hot water, there has been no damage, and apparently the new plumber is a bit more "unethical" than I am. Nonetheless, as I consider myself to be a fair and honest businessman I will pay her the $68.00 for the "new plumber" labor. I will not pay for the parts as they were indeed under warranty. This being a "dispute resolution" I will wait to hear from you at the Bureau before mailing her my check.Thank you for your time, Dan T[redacted], owner/soleproprietor
