Dave's Garage Reviews (3)

Revdex.com:At this time, I have not been contacted by Elite Towing & Transport, Inc. regarding complaint ID [redacted].Sincerely,[redacted]

Review: The work performed failed. I had injectors replaced and another garage in town said they were installed wrong which caused the truck to break down.

Dave's garage is closed down and no longer in the same location. My truck had to get towed to another location for repairs by another company. This other garage stated the work down to my truck was not correct and caused my truck to break down on the side of the road. Batteries I purchased from Dave's garage weren't new and needed to be replaced within a year after installing. fuel injectors that I purchased and had installed by Dave's Garage were installed incorrectly and failed to function properly. The engine is hydrostatically locked due to this faulty install.Desired Settlement: I would like Dave's Garage to pay for all repairs that should have been warrantied by them. They closed down and moved out of state to avoid further warranty issues by other customers. I've spent over $15,000 in repairs to my truck and for it to still have issues is beyond me. They need to honor the work performed and get my truck back on the road.

Review: Dave's garage put a car fuel pump on my boat instead of a manufactured boat pump. This eliminated several parts necessary to fix it correctly.

I brought my boat to Dave's garage on 5/11/2012 to get my Prop fixed. [redacted] told me I needed a new Prop and new Strut. I approved the work and it cost me 1,039.13 dollars (invoice [redacted] Four days later it wouldn't start so I brought it back and he told me I needed a new Starter. He put a new starter in and charged me 329.14(invoice # [redacted] A few days went by and my boat wouldn't start again. I brought it back and he said I needed a new fuel pump. So I approved for him to get me a new fuel pump. He said it would be done by 5 and when I got to the shop he wasn't there and [redacted] said he is out getting the pump. When he returned he put it in and said I need to order a different on and we can settle up when it comes in. I left and since it was the end of the boating season I forgot and never heard from [redacted]. This season I went to use our boat and it wouldn't start. I wasn't please with Dave's garages service so I decided to take it else where. However when we discovered that the pump was just laying on the floor board of the boat and was a huge safety issue we thought we should return to Dave's Garage to have him repair it properly. When I called the shop I spoke to [redacted] and she remembered exactly who I was and that they needed to put in the manufacture marine fuel pump in. She called me back with a quote of $500.00 To fix and repair my fuel tank. I excepted and she made an appointment for Sept. 10, 2013. When I called on Sept. 9 to ensure the parts where in, she said she would call me back because she wasn't sure. At 5pm that day I had not heard back from her and I called the shop. I spoke to [redacted] and he said they were not able to get the parts. I hung up very frustrated and decided I would take my boat else where. When the other company saw the pump they were very concerned. None the less they researched what it would to fix my boat to manufacture specs and told me that they did not have all the pieces from the old pump to fix it without the missing parts. Once the new company figured out what I needed to properly fix my boat the quote from him went from 500 dollars to 1280.00 dollars. I was shocked. When I called Dave's garage back to see if they had the parts or would work with me to make this right and I got NO response. I feel that this was not only negligent and unethical of [redacted], but a huge safety concern while we were using it last year. If we had been pulled over on the water we would have probably been fined for not meeting aqua marine specifications. Desired Settlement: I am asking for the difference it will cost for a normal fuel pump to be replaced of approximately 500.00 dollar from what it will now cost me at approximately 1280.00 dollars.

780.00 refund.

I would be happy to get a written quote from a reputable company to show the cost.

Initial Business Response

I have received the complaint from mrs. [redacted] Reguarding the repairs to her boat and this is clarification to the situation. [redacted] brought her boat to me while employed as the manager of another local repair shop in town after her son had hit something and damaged her prop and prop strut on her wake board boat. My shop completed the repairs and her son pickied the boat up. the next week completely unrelated she returned because her boat engine would not crank over.It was diagnosed as starter failure. the starter was replaced and her boat fired right up. later she returned again stating her boat would not start it turned over just fine now but no fire, it was tested and found the fuel pump had failed. Mrs [redacted] was advised that the pump she needed was 3-4 days out and would not be able to be repaired same day. she advised me that she had a family get together happening and realy needed her boat. [redacted] being a manager of another local shop asked if there was any way to get it up and going for the weekend. I advised her that there was a universal fuel pump with the same volume and pressure rating just the mounting would be different and agreed to put it on as a temporary until the factory pump arrived. [redacted] agreed and the repair was performed with the agreement that she would pay that repair at the same time as the factory pump repair. the following week Mrs [redacted] was contacted and notified that her fuel pump had arrived. she stated her son would bring the boat in for repair the following day. her son missed the appointment and several messages were left over the next 2 weeks attempting to reschedule which were all ignored leaving me holding the cost of not only the universal pump but the factory pump as well.

It wasn't until 14 months later when she had a problem with the universal pump that she made contact with my shop attempting to get her boat repaired again. I was advised of her appointment and she was contacted informing her that no parts would be ordered for her boat until the boat was here on site securing my interest in the repair cost. she then decided to take her boat to another shop and begin fabricating this entire story of how much of a bad person I am and my shop is. This is a case of she got something for free by taking advantage of someone that truly cares about his customers and when she finds that she has mistaken kindness for weakness she panics and considering she has been working in the industry and managing a local shop in town she knew that the Revdex.com and the BAR were a way for her to further her attempt in working the system

I will not credit or refund her any money considering she never paid for repairs to begin with

Thanks

Final Consumer Response

Hello,

I am sending in the invoices and pictures to show you how [redacted] installed the fuel pump vs the correct way in which it should of been installed.

[redacted]'s claim of the 12 month notice is not on the invoice so please review that. Secondly and most importantly, the repair he performed left my boat without the parts to complete the work properly by [redacted] Marine and therefor cost me 1,363.72 dollars.

Lastly, if he is so honest then why didn't he do the right thing and make this situation right?

He could of done the ethical thing by working with me but instead chose to leave me with a repair that cost me a lot of money. I even called and asked for the parts missing so that I could bring them to Sterlings so that it wouldn't cost me the hundreds of dollars, but [redacted] never returned my calls. This business is by far the most untrustworthy shop out there. I just cannot understand why he wouldn't do the right thing unless he was hiding something or is unethical and shady.

Final Business Response

I have received mrs. [redacted]'s response to my position and I understand that the Revdex.com works to resolve these types of issues and my position is the situation played out exactly as I narrated in my first response. further more even if the first repair would have been paid for which it was not that repair took place 14 months prior to contacting my shop, it is clearly stated on every repair order that she does have from me from repairs that she did pay for that we offer a 12 month warranty.

there fore not only was she in the wrong for neglecting to hold up to finishing the repairs as agreed upon but the unpaid for repair is out of warranty by time so I hold to my decision that I will not compensate her in any way for attempting to take advantage of this shop
