7/17/13 The estimate was very competive with others I had received to trim several large trees on my property. [redacted] was obviously very knowledgable about tree/plant health. The workers arrived on time and in spite of the heat index being 100+ degrees the crew worked very quickly and efficiently. They were friendly, answered all of my questions, and did a great job with clean-up when they were finished. The price was as estimated and the trees look great. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing a tree service.

This is the second time we used Dorshak tree service. This time was not a great experience. We had a huge tree removed in our backyard. It was a miserable day in January -- rainy, cold and the ground wasn't frozen. The crew laid plywood down to run their big machines over .... but it didn't do much good . They kept driving off of the wood and making BIG trenches in our yard. Now that the snow has melted and the grass is green , we have a big job ahead of us..... try and re-level the yard & fill in the big ruts that they made. We're retired and don't know if it's do-able for us . If not ,we'll have to call in a company to have it done. I'm really disappointed in their work the second time around.

We had a VERY tall tree removed by Dorshak. We are very pleased with them. The guys were very courteous and professional. They cleaned up nicely after they were finished. An extra kudo for Brittany; what a nice person to deal with.

I used this service last fall to take down a huge tree that was 2 feet off the house. They also did some clean up work on other trees that had dead branches. I live in New Berlin and my trees are VERY old and VERY tall! They did an amazing job! There work was efficient in that all members of the crew were doing something almost all the time. One was cutting the branch, one lowering it and two others cutting it up. If one person didn't have something to do they started moving the wood to where I wanted it or other clean up type work. I was very impressed and will definitely use them again! The owner was extremely knowledgeable and friendly!

Review: Work proposed was "remove low hanging branches & even out around" around large spruce tree. Also remove dead & dying branches. When crew arrived -- NO PHONE CALL nor did they ring the doorbell before they started. When we heard the noise and got immediately out there -- they had completed about 30% of the job -- EXCEPT the foreman had read the order from the office to do work as "raise the height to BALCONY HEIGHT" and not just even out the bottom branches. They had cut about 5 foot of live branches up from the bottom of our tree. After stopping the serious damage, they proceeded to cut out the dead areas. The huge truck was driven up onto a neighbors drive without permission as they were at work. I called the estimator and he returned my call by leaving a message on our recorder "that we got more than we paid for & if we had cared about the tree we should have been there..." We were INSIDE the house killing time watching TV waiting for them the CALL FIRST or at least ring the doorbell to discuss the job BEFORE they started to butcher our tree. That's what a PROFESSIONAL contractor would have done. We just received a bill in the full amount of the estimate. No adjustment for their mistakes. As a member of the family/crew said -- you can't glue the branches back..."Desired Settlement: I will pay the bill as billed UNDER PROTEST. My choice might be to let them take me to small claims court and I can show a Judge the before and after pictures. But $300 isn't worth the fuss. It might be in a short time if the tree DIES from the damage done to it.

Business

Response:

The Spruce tree the customer had contracted us to work on has a lethal fungal disease called Cytospora Canker. It kills the spruce trees from the bottom up. Her work was scheduled and the crew arrived on the scheduled day but did not ring the customers door bell and discuss the work to be done. The crew removed the lower limbs for approximately 3-4 ft clearance to provide better air movement which aids in slowing the progression of this disease. Even though this is a recommended procedure, more was taken off than the customer wanted. I asked Mrs [redacted] what we could do for her and she asked If we would fertilize her spruce tree for free. Our arborist previously quoted $150.00 for this treatment. I agreed to her request and Mrs [redacted] was satisfied with this settlement.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. While damage to a tree cannot be undone, they have made an honest effort by offering to fertilize the tree in fall. Hopefully the tree accepts their compensation -- it was the damaged party -- and that it wasn't damaged beyond restoration.

Regards,

Dorshak Family Tree Service came out to remove the brush from about 18 mid size trees that I had taken down in my yard. They chipped the brush and grinded the stumps.
Dorshak Family Tree Service did an unbelievable job today. They came out quicker than anyone else would, in fact 2 days before their own eta, and did a superb job. [redacted] and his crew, [redacted] was especially helpful, polite and did the job very quickly. They left a clean surface when they were done. [redacted] even looked at my chainsaw for me when it wasn't working. I would recommend Dorshak to anyone.
