Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: [redacted]

[redacted]
[redacted]  [redacted]  First of all, I have reason to believe that [redacted] owner of Dr.Bobs auto service was up to no good from the beginning as I requested his service for my vehicle repair.I made it clear to [redacted] that I had limited funds to repair this vehicle and to keep me informed of any and all charges before hand.It took him several days before he advised me that he couldn't find the problem with the vehicle. He then said that he will need to have someone else look at the vehicle. My question to him was, what do I owe sofar and he responded with, "Don't worry about it". That kinda brought up a red flag but, I needed the car repaired therefore agreeing to let someone else look at it. We left it at that.Several days later I returned to the shop to check the status since I had not heard anything yet. At that visit I find out that my vehicle is at the Ford dealership in [redacted], Tx about 30 miles away. I then asked [redacted] to have them return my vehicle because, I know that most dealerships are pretty expensive and I thought that he had someone locally. I was under the impression that he had agreed, so I left the shop.Giving him plenty of time to get my vehicle back I returned a couple of weeks later. Come to find out that my vehicle was still at the dealership. Again he agreed to have my vehicle returned. When I left the shop I decided to visit the dealership to see for myself that my vehicle was indeed there. Upon my arrival I met with the service person that was handling my vehicle and he advised me that I have a bill of over $100 dollars for a tune up that supposedly was performed and that the catalytic converters needed to be replaced. I then told this service person that the only work authorized was a diagnosis check and that I would get back with him. He also told me that the cost to replace the converters was going to cost over $3000 closer to  $4000.I then returned to the shop a few days later to find that my vehicle was finally returned. I asked [redacted] about the cost so far and he responded with an outrageous figure of $700 dollars. I responded that I was going to need time to come up with that amount of money.I was medically retired from my government job after 25 years and  after suffering from a vehicle accident causing multiple injuries. Most recently I was diagnosed with GBS, which causes paralysis, coma, and most cases death. I was very lucky per my Neurologist to have recovered almost completely after several months of rehab. I have been retired for about 5 years now and trying to survive on a small pension from my employer and that is the reason why I couldn't afford to pay too much for this repair.I was finally well enough to tell my wife where the vehicle was and to have my uncle pick it up for us. My uncle is a master mechanic from the Austin area and was very upset at Dr. Bob's due to the fact that he believes that I was way over charged for whatever work was done to the vehicle. He said that the vehicle's engine does not even start, so how was a tune up performed. The vehicle was returned in worse shape than when it was delivered to Dr. Bob's. And there is no way that $700 dollars worth of work was done to this vehicle. Therefore that leaves me to believe that [redacted] is not being very honest forcing me to file a complaint with the Attorney Generals Office and a investigation.  ----------- END OF STATEMENT

Dear Mrs. Ruth, This is in response to the complaint filed against my business [redacted] When Mr. [redacted] brought the vehicle in, half of the vehicle was already disassembled. Upon Inspection before we started working on it the...

trunk was not intact, the battery was disconnected, discharged and dead, some of the covers were missing off the engine and it appeared that someone before they brought it into me had been attempting to work on it. Mr. [redacted] advised that the vehicle would not start and see if I could get it running for him. I then went ahead and did a compression test, diagnostic run for codes, and changed the spark plugs due to the fact that the spark plugs that were already in there were wet from fuel. I checked the fuel pressure within specs and checked the fuel pressure regulator. In checking the codes it had dealer codes only. In one of my conversations with Mr. [redacted], I advised him that I would be sending the vehicle to the Ford Dealership in [redacted], Texas to check out the codes and he agreed. The response from the Ford Service Advisor [redacted], was that the catalytic converter was clogged up and the Anti-theft light was on. This vehicle has 4 catalytic converters and Mr. [redacted] advised that in order to change out the catalytic converters they would cost between $2,300.00 to $2,500.00. I then contacted Mr. [redacted] and advised him of the cost and he declined those repairs and said he would pick up the vehicle. Initially the vehicle was brought in 4 February, 2014 and was picked up in June of this year 2015, The vehicle had been sitting here on the property for over a year and was not charged any storage fees. Note that Mr. [redacted] did not pick up this vehicle, he sent someone else to pick this vehicle up. They brought their own trailer to haul it off.Sincerely,[redacted]
