Review: I recently dropped off my Coach leather handbag at Dry Clean Safari to have the inside lining dry cleaned, I paid $55 for this service. When I dropped it off, I expressed to the associate at the front counter that I only wanted the inside lining cleaned and that the bag was extremely rare and valuable and I asked that extreme care please be taken care with it. The handbag was purchased in 2007 for $800 and was in excellent condition aside from the dirty lining since I used the handbag all of the time. The associate assured me that the person they sent their leather jobs to was an excellent professional leather cleaner, and did beautiful work. When I got home from picking up my handbag I removed the wrapping it was in, I realized that my bag had dark stains covering large areas on both sides, as if someone had wiped the bag with a wet rag. I also noticed that the fridge, that had all been the same exact length and width when I dropped it off, now appeared as if some of them had been scorched and were an inch longer due to being stretched out. They were also crinkled and hard as if they have been wet. This made me extremely mad, because there was no reason for the outside of the bag to be cleaned in this horrible manner since it was not dirty to begin with plus, I had asked for only the lining to be cleaned. I immediately called Dry Clean Safari and spoke to the same associate that I had dropped off the bag in person with. I explained to her my disappointment, and how the bag appeared to me. She asked me to bring her the bag so she could show her boss. Upon the owner, Derek, seeing my bag, he let me know my only options were to have it sent back to the leather professional, that had done the damage, to have him "fix" it or simply get a refund $55. I explained to Derek that I wanted my $55 refunded plus compensation for the damage done. I did not feel comfortable resending the bag because I was afraid it would be destroyed. Derek responded he would not compensate me and proceeded to argue with me.Desired Settlement: I felt that Derek should take ownership of the fact that his service damaged my handbag and there is no way to fix the dark staining and damage done to the fringe. He was extremely rude and provided extremely horrible customer service to me. I would like compensation for the damage done to my rare, irreplaceable Coach leather handbag in the amount of $500.
