The consumer brought her car in with what she thought was a fuel line leak.  I advised her that the chances were good that if one line needs replacing, they all should be replaced.  When I looked at the car, it not only needed 3 fuel lines, it needed brake lines as well.  I strongly suggested she replace the brake lines as they run right next to each other.   When we went to do the fuel lines, the brake lines started leaking.  I asked her to come down to see what I was talking about.  She brought a male friend with her to see the lines.  He seemed to understand, but she seemed to think we were taking advantage of her.  We did ask her to step out of the shop as it is a safety issue.  She became argumentative so at that point we did a  temporary repair of the lines so she could get a second opinion.  I did advise her not to drive it the car for safety reasons.  I noted this on the invoice which she refused to sign.  She was only charged the diagnostic fee and this included the temporary repair.  For everyone's best interest the police were called and an incident report was signed.  Yes we did move the car from the lot to the bay but it was not safe to drive on the street.  She had the car towed by AAA.  We try to treat all customers equally and fairly.  That being said, this job was a safety issue and I feel we acted in in the customer best interest.
