This letter is in response to the complaint filed on 8/24/We are very sorry to hear of the customer's problems with the vehicleI have reviewed the transaction and have attached some documentation pertinent to it
According to our
records the transaction with the customer was dated May 8th, At that time, she was presented with an option to purchase an extended service contract at an additional cost to herShe did decline this option at the time of purchaseThis is a product we present to all of our customers whether they buy a new vehicle or used vehicleShe also signed an FTC Buyer's Guide stating that the vehicle is sold "As Warranty."
I don't feel the dealership has responsibility in this matterI feel we did our due diligence in offering coverage on the vehicle which would have completely covered her expenses-including travel reimbursement and hotel if necessaryWe can offer an extended service contract after the sale but coverage will not be offered by the warranty company retroactively to fix the problem that a vehicle has been brought to the dealership forThe vehicle was in working order when delivered to the customerWe can't predict a vehicle is going to have a problem in the future if it is in good working order at the time of saleWe do our very best to ensure that every vehicle sold is free of problems at the time of deliveryThat doesn't, however, prevent problems from happening at a later dateThat is why we always offer coverage to the customer when it is available

I do not accept this response as the vehicle was not running well when I bought itI brought it back to Eide's on May 29th, as it was running sluggish and when I would start the vehicle and a blue cloud of smoke would come outThey kept the vehicle for days and said there was nothing wrong with the vehicleI advised that I would be willing to pay, as my children and I were driving the vehicle to California for vacation - where the vehicle is currently due to needing a new engineBut they were adamant nothing was wrongThey didn't even try and sell me an air filter, which is odd.I didn't buy the warranty because it was an extra $165/month and I understand that was at my discretionBut the ethics of this business should be questioned as nothing was offered to me when I came back and asked if I could at least have my old car back or a good runner as I had just paid almost $10,for a car that lasted about monthsThey didn't even call me back when I asked if I could get the warranty since it was within the daysI now have a loan for almost $10,and no vehicleI don't expect any action from Eide, but I would like to prevent this from happening to anyone in the futureIt's a pretty tough spot to be in, at least the repair shop should be investigated for not being able to find anything wrong with my vehicle, when there was obviously something wrong
