Review: Elm Dry Cleaners lost one of my shirts and is refusing to compensate me for it. On Friday, April 26th 2013, I dropped off 28 shirts to be dry cleaned. He told me that it would be ready on Tuesday. I went in late Tuesday to pick up my clothes. The guy told me that someone came in and stole all the receipts. He said he needed time to sort everything out and told me to come back the next day. If someone stole the receipts, then what else did this person steal? I went back the next day and the same guy said that he has all of my shirts except for one. He said it was a strangler and said that he would call me when it arrived. He never called me nor did he offer a time frame of when it would be ready. It was only when I asked him when it would be ready did he tell me that it should be back later on today. I came back later that day to pick up my shirt. I noticed on my receipt that he counted 27 items when I had 28. I asked him about it and he said that he only counted 27. He asked me if I dropped it in the car. I went back home and checked to see if I had this missing shirt. I know that I gave it to him because I have 28 hangers in my closet. I even know that it was a white button down dress shirt that was missing. Before I dropped off my shirts to them, I counted it twice to make sure that I had the right number.The guy never offered a solution and refused to let me speak to his manager. He just accused me of losing my own shirt. He said that he will try to look for it. In a customer service industry, this guy and this company are far from it. He was not friendly and never apologized for making me go back to them on 3 separate occassions. It was one excuse after another.

I would like them to either find my shirt, compensate me for the shirt that they lost or give me a store credit for how much the shirt cost. My shirt was around $40.

Business' Initial Response
As per the store invoice made in front of you we counted 27 shirts and they were all returned to you. There was no indication of another shirt at the drop off. Regardless of that fact, we are willing to settle this with our reimbursiment policy. Which is not to exceed ten times the cleaning cost of an article. The cost is $1.50 per shirt to be laundered. Therefore, we will be willing to give $15 in the cleaning credit.
